About KIIT School of Management

The KIIT School of Management, KIIT University, established in 1993 as Institute of Business Administration and Training (IBAT), has been recognized as a trend-setting centre for business education. Since its inception, the school has had many impressive successes to its credit and has extended its area of influence from Eastern India to the whole country. Dr. L. K. Vaswani is currently the Pro -Vice Chancellor, KIIT School of Management & KIIT School of Rural Management. In 2006 he moved to Bhubaneswar to set up KIIT School of Rural Management as a constituent of KIIT University. Academic programmes of School of Management (SOM) are approved by Statutory Bodies of Goverment of India,and accredited by the National Board of Accrediation ( NBA ) Vied F.No- NBA / ACCR-952/07 Dt. January 22, 2008 of All India Council of Technical Education ( AICTE ) Vied F.No- 431 / 36-01 / MCP(M) / 94 Dt. May 22 2008. Students are kept up to date with the most advanced skill-based training courses such as SAP and SOA from IBM. The school adorns a fully networked Wi-Fi- campus. It offers Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral Degrees as well as Executive Education Programme in Management.

Location - The campus is located at Krishna Campus of KIIT University in the temple city of Bhubaneswar and is easily accessible by public transport.

Facilities

Hostels - There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The rooms are spacious and well furnished and are share on twin basis. There is a centrally located dining hall with mess managed by the students body. Other facilities include T.V. lounge, gymnasium, facilities for indoor games and a recreation room.

Classrooms and Syndicates - Facilities include spacious multimedia enabled, with central air conditioning and equipped with overhead LCD projectors and Public Address system, internet facility and laptop power supply.

Computing and Reprographic Facilities - State of the art network and computing facilities include high capacity photocopier, laptop for each student and copier related services unit within the campus.

Auditorium - It is air conditioned with seating capacity for 500 people and amphitheatre which host a range of academic activities.

Sports Facilities - There is a centrally located indoor stadium with facilities for table tennis, football, snooker, carom, basketball, chess, badminton etc. Outdoor facilities for all games are available within the university campus.

Library - Books: Over 8,000 titles in the area of management and allied topics. Around 2000 new books are added to the collection every year. Subscription to over 120 print Periodicals which include 20 international and 70 national journals. Besides these, there are around 10,000 e-journals made available through various online databases through EBSCO, Emerald, ABI/INFORM Complete and CMIE(Corporate database). Library maintains a selective collection of over 355 videos cassettes & VCDs of educational films. It Subscribes to 17 national newspapers.

CMD - Centre For Management Development promotes the professional practice of management development in the corporate, social, government and non-govt. sectors with special emphasis in under-managed organizations and sectors of economy. It also  establishes effectiveness of management development as one of the determinants of organizational success.

SRCC - Students Relations Coordination Committee is duly constituted by the Director, SOM with 16 members consisting of 6 faculty members and 10 student members to decide upon issues like student discipline, student forums and hostel discipline. Other functions include counselling the students from time to time on issues of discipline and academic conduct, overseeing the functioning of other students' forums / committees in the areas of catering, hostel maintenance, event management (academic/ non-academic), review the process of handling medical emergencies from time to time etc.

Srijan Forum - It manages the extra curricular activities of the PGP participants on the campus.

Srijan functions through different wings:

  1. Literary Wing - The Literary Wing publishes a Wall Magazine called 'Kshitij' every fortnight. The magazine publishes articles of different interests, written by the students. This wing also encourages students to participate, in various competitions, for e.g., essay writing and poetry writing, inside or outside the institute.
  2. Academic Wing - The Academic Wing runs its activities through different clubs, i.e., the Marketing, HR, Finance and Systems Club. The wing organizes quizzes, debate, dumb charades and student presentations, on a regular basis.
  3. Marketing Club - This forum consists of students majoring in Marketing the objective of this club is to improve the visibility of KSoM's marketing batch in the corporate world. The Marketing Club showcases the Marketing Batch of KSoM and is perceived to be a cradle of intellect and marketing acumen.
  4. Finance Club - Club Finance is a committee that aims to take the knowledge of students in the field of financial sector to the apex. It covers Pink Punch- Economic Times Review, Bulls & Bears- Stock Market Analysis, FQ- Finance Quotient, Finance Basics and Quizzes.
  5. Manthan - The Hr Club objectives include sensitizing students with latest HR issues, increasing Industrial exposure via various activities etc.
  6. Cultural Wing - The cultural committee Arts & Culture has come up with  unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for all the future managers who are in the early stages of their careers.
  7. Social Wing - The Social Wing functions specially to create awareness among the students towards the society and environment. Organizing Blood Donation Camp, Tree Plantation Movement and Eye Donation Awareness Camps and other types of awareness program is the main agenda of the wing.

Students Magazine Of School Of Management - Students Journal is a portal to enable the students interact with the management thinkers on the perspective of learning management paradigms. Turbulent changes and transformational experience of the Corporates shall be shared in a cyber platform.

Sports - KIIT offers a choice of indoor games and outdoor facilities for volleyball, lawn tennis etc. The Bhubaneswar campus offers the facilities of one of Orissa's largest indoor stadiums.

Placement - India's most prestigious companies in private and public sector regularly recruit our students. KIIT MBAs pursue a wide range of high-potential careers in a wide range of companies. As a part of the new career management initiative, students are given training from the first year itself through a process of personality and skill development. The objective is to help students develop decision-making skills and strategies that will help them to achieve their career interests in today's competitive job market. The Corporate Seminar Series (CSS) is one more initiative to bring students close to industry captains through formal presentations. These interactions provide a great opportunity for students to connect with corporate leaders, exchange ideas and gain further insight into potential employers. The on-campus recruiting arrangements by the Placement and Corporate Relations Cell of the school provide an excellent opportunity for employers and students to connect with a range of well-known companies in many sectors of economy. The recruiting process allows students a chance to explore a range of career opportunities in fields of marketing, financial services, human resources etc.

Achievements

  • KIIT has the distinction of being the youngest institute ever in the country to be declared a University ( U/S 3 of UGC Act, 1956) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Goverment of India.
  • The MBA program of KIIT School of Management (KSOM) is approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Goverment of India. Besides, the MBA program is accredited by the National Board of Accrediation (NBA) of AICTE.
  • The process of Accrediation takes into account the excellence of the institution in infrastructure facilities,faculty, academic standards, etc. These stand as proof of School of Management commitment towards quality education.
