About Institute of Engineering and Technology - IET

Institute of Engineering & Technology, Alwar was established in 1998. The Institute is managed by All India Society for Advance Education & Research. The Institute was given NOC and approval by the A.I.C.T.E. on 07th July, 1998. Institute obtained affiliation from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur on 04th August, 1998. The Institute was accredited for two branches (Electronics & Communication and Computer Sc. Engineering) as per Letter Dated : 27th July, 2006 by NBA (National Board of Accreditation). The NBA team also accredited (Electrical Engineering, Electronic Instrumentation & Control Engineering & Information Technology) department as per letter dated : 19th July, 2008. Hence accreditation status has been awarded to all the Engineering programs of this Institution. The single Institute venture which grew up over the years, has become a Group of Academic Institutions that include 2 Engineering Institutes, a Pharmacy, Biotechnology & a Management College. The Engineering Colleges managed by this group are rendering Technical Education of 7 Engineering Branches at Under Graduate Level and 5-Branches at Post Graduate Level, the rare combination available for education in private sector in whole of North India. The Biotechnology stream is available at UG and PG in Biotechnology Institute. Pharmacy college is catering to B. Pharma. The Campus has World class infrastructure which is spread over 10 acres of lush green land with more than 5000 plantation. IET-Alwar is equipped with state-of-art laboratories, computer and IT departments, excellent building infrastructure with and well qualified, experienced & committed team of faculty members.

Location and Transportation - The Institute is located at RIICO Matsya Industrial Area, Alwar, in the sylvan surrounding of Aravali Hills and woods. It is approximately, 160 Kms from New Delhi via Gurgaon-Dharuhera-Tijara-Alwar Route & Approx. 150 Kms. from Jaipur.

Facilities

Hostels - The Hostels are fully furnished, well ventilated and separate for boys & girls. The Hostels consists of 6 Boys & 2 Girls Hostels with 1200 & 600 students capacity respectively.

  • Rooms Set-up - Two seater with attached latrine-bathroom and all essential modern furniture as box bed, almirah, study table & chair, book shelf, etc. for comfortable studying.
  • Common Rooms - Each Hostel has a separate Common Room with a TV and indoor games facilities for Table Tennis, Carom, Chess Board etc. with modern furniture which provide leisure to the students.
  • Mess - There is separate fully automated mess for boys and girls with trained cooking staff and modern stainless steel kitchen equipments with comfortable furniture provided in each hostel for hygienic food (pure vegetarian).
  • Drinking Water - All Hostels have mineral drinking water plant attached with water cooler to provide pure and healthy water to students.
  • Internet Facility - The Internet facility is also provided in each Hostel which is used by students for their developmental work.
  • Gym & Fitness Centre - All Hostels have separate Gym & Fitness Centre.

Central Library - Totally computerized & fully furnished library is functional in 9,100 Sq. ft. area with seating capacity of 400+ Students. The Library is having more than 36,000 books of Foreign & Indian writers, National & International Journals, Educational & General CD’s. The Institute has become a member of University, IIT, MHRD & other major library network through the connectivity of DELNET library facility. Further the Institute Library has access to 47 IEEE Electronic Journals through Internet and approx. 1050 CDs on various topics are available in the Library for self learning. The Library is managed by dynamic and professionally qualified Sh. Dausharan Sharma, M.Lib.

Class Room Facilities - The Institute has spacious well furnished & air cooled Class Rooms equipped with LCD Projectors.

Laboratories - The Institute has well equipped Departmental Laboratories with all required latest & sophisticated equipments and furniture / fixtures.

Computer Centre - The Institute has Hi-tech Computer Laboratories with all required original software, printers and dedicated internet facilities in all P-IV Computers.

Auditorium and Seminar Hall
- A well furnished Modern Auditorium and Seminar Hall are available with the Institute.

Nihongo Training Centre - It is a Centre for Japanese Language Programme where in a mixture of Japanese and Indian faculty teach Japanese language only through Japanese, right from the beginning. This helps the students to think in Japanese and motivates them to speak in Japanese as well. Rather than simply giving a lecture, the sessions are made interactive so that the students can actually use and practice what they have learnt, For example Role Playing. The focus is to make the student understand, think and apply what he/she has learnt. This arouses curiosity and keeps up interest and motivation so that the language becomes a part of them.

R&D Centre - A state of art International standard facility of Research & Development activities is developed for various research work.

The R&D laboratory is one of its kind in academic institutions with following provisions :

  • COMFAC - Common Facility and Production Centre.
  • CRED - Centre for Embedded Design.
  • CFAC - Centre for Affordable Computing.
  • CBME - Centre for Biomedical Engineering.
  • CLED - Centre for Leadership and Entrepreneur Development.
  • CEEE - Centre for Excellence Engineering Education.

Indigenous equipments are been developed in-house emphasizing on cost control and multiple experiment use on one common equipment.

Health Facility - The College is equipped with a full time Medical Care Centre. Two regular MBBS Doctors and two member nursing staff are giving their services in a indoor care unit having separate caring beds for male and female patients.

Counselling / Mentoring - In a given section, students are divided @ 20 students and one mentor is appointed on these 20 students to motivate the students for quality improvement in respect of attendance properly performing of practical and timely cheek up of practical records. The mentor remains in touch with the parents of the students as well.

Student Insurance - All students are insured under Group Insurance Scheme.

Language Lab - It is working round the clock to develop fluent communication skills. The Lab is also equipped with latest language software along with requites audio visual tools also the periodic seminars on technical topics & debate activates are organized to promote personality traits in students.

Training Cell - An independent Corporate Training & Placement Department has been working under the able and confident guidance of Corporate Head T&P, Prof. Yogesh M. Kaushik, an MBA by profession with 30 years of hard core industrial experience in HR, P&A, IR & public relations. The department has been set up to fill the gap between industries requirement and the calibre at hand. The results of the various beyond curricula technical training that are continuing for last 4 years have started reaping which is evident in the recent increasing trend of rate of selections. To equip students with practical knowledge, they are given exposure to industry and other establishment by organizing regular visits to industries.

Sports - Students are encouraged to take part in indoor and outdoor games and sports. Sports constitute an integral part of education besides providing physical and mental discipline, they inculcate in students the noble qualities of team spirit, discipline, sportsmanship and self-confidence. The College campus has a large play ground, lawn tennis court, badminton courts, basketball ground and indoor games like table tennis, carom board, chess etc.

Bank - The Institute has Punjab National Bank with ATM facility in the campus to provide banking facility to the students and staff.

Cafeteria - Fully furnished Canteen is available in the Institute serving sumptuous snacks / tea/ juice etc. to the students and staff.

Cultural Events - Apart from excellent academics & co-curricular activities, a wide spectrum of cultural & extra curricular events are organized. These activities inculcate in students, a spirit of team work & leadership.

Some of major events are :

  • Abhinandan Samaroh - It is the very first event of the new session which aims to welcome newly admitted students. All new students are introduced to the management, faculty members and fellow students in a heart warming ceremony.
  • Navayaam - The Fresher's Day, is a cultural event showcasing the talents of fresher's in guidance of their seniors.
  • Tech-Ecstasy - It is an Annual Function related to Technology.
  • Adieu - It is a Farewell Party event organized to bid farewell to outgoing batch. The final year students are given momentous & group photographs are taken as memories of each batch.

Sankalp - It is the Forum of IET students which can be described as the society of the students, by the students and for the students regardless of their class year and branch. The Forum organises & celebrates important occasions like Engineer's Day, Teacher's Day, World Aids Day, Nav-Sammat, Basant Panchmi, Navratras, Blood Donation Camps and may more. Under this banner, students, more aptly called workers, aim to achieve a heterogeneous blend of modernity with traditionality.

THEEEETA - Trust For Health Education, Environment, Employment, & Energy To All is an Organisation which serves the mankind in all the possible ways to bring about the socio-economic development of our society people. THEEEETA has been running various programs related to health, education employment, issues, conservation of energy & many other associated areas.

Some of the activities organized under THEEEETA as follows :

  • Physically Challenged Peoples Awareness Programme - Chairman of Physically Challenged People Cell Govt. of Rajasthan, & Secretary of PCPC inaugurated the THEEEETA and appreciated the activities under it.
  • Gramin Khelkhud Pratiyogita - Cricket, Kabbadi, Athletics games organized at IET Alwar.
  • Panchayat Samiti Level Competition - Panchayat Samiti Cricket Competition held at Kishangarh 29 Gram Panchayat Participated.
  • Sunrise Kalyani Prashikshan Programme - It was organized at Gulaab Devi Dharmashala, Kishangarh-Baas.

SPIC-MACAY - Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music & Culture amongst Youth brings out the ancient forms in music & dance on a platform to make the youth aware of the rich heritage of which they are part. A sub-chapter (one of seven sub chapters) was at IET in year 2002 under SPIC-MACAY Alwar Chapter.

Industry Interaction - The AICTE has under its various grant - in - aid schemes has approved IIP Cell based on the past / current activities of IET under its corporate training department. Some of the major achievements under industry institute partnership are listed bellow. IET has signed MOUs after "exploring various opportunities with industry and was able to join hands with some industrial leaders to support in developing new facilities and provide better opportunities to students for learning latest technologies."

Some of the MOU's:

  1. MOU with Infosys for Campus Connect Programme - The MOU with Infosys has been signed in order to upgrade the academic environment in order to facilitate upliftment of students and faculty and Infosys supporting institute through course materials, sabbaticals, training expenses and through train the trainer programme.
  2. SAP AG - SAP AG the German Multinational, pioneer of ERP, selected IET Group as its first partner in the state for Training the students. The SAP team will train the students throughout the year in the campus on SAP technologies.
  3. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi - IET, Alwar has signed MoU with RF & Microwave Group, CARE, IIT, Delhi for “Development of RF Components & Setting up of Basic RF Lab” in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering.
  4. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay - IIT, Bombay has signed MoU with IET (Intux) as their Technical Partner for Computer Masti Programme (Computer training for school students in a very friendly manner).
  5. MoU with IBM for Rational Rose - This is a tool technology for future exponential growth in software development. Faculty and students have undergone training on the same. IET has signed an MOU with IBM in order to strengthen case development.
  6. MoU with Oracle for workforce development programme - The Institute has tied up with Oracle for work force development programme with 100 user software license. A students training kit will be provided and an participation certificate from Oracle will be received for all the candidates who will be attending the courses from time to time.
  7. MoU with Red Hat for the Red Hat Academy - The RedHat India has supported Institute efforts for open source software systems and has provided enterprise lab server software to the Institute and provides participation certificate to all the candidates who attend the training.
  8. Silver Training Partner of Novell - The Institute has also made efforts to provide diversified operating system and for these technologies a tie up with Novell has been signed.
  9. Academic Alliance with Microsoft (MSDN) - The Institute has tied up with Microsoft for MSDN Academic alliance for all computing related courses of all the years and student are facilitated with all tools and technical know how on MSDN system
  10. MoU with ST Microelectronic - An MoU with ST Microelectronic has been signed on GOSPEL Technology in order to develop and share the technology available for embedded system designing for academic and industrial use.
  11. MOU with EMC2 Data Storage Management - MOU with EMC2 has been signed in order to provide the exposure on data storage and management for business critical application and will provide the software and training resources to the institute.
  12. MOU with CISCO for Network Academy - MOU with CISCO has been signed in order to provide exposure on to the apparent from academia.
  13. Pearson VUE (Testing Facilities) - MOU with Pearson Vue for online tests for assessments of examines related to various international online technological tests.
  14. Prometric (Testing Facilities) - MOU with Thomson Prometric for online tests for assessments of examines related to various international online technological tests.
  15. MoU with SPICE – USA - An MOU with SPICE has been signed to provide education to all parts of the world with faculty and students exchange whenever possible.

Alumni Activities - The Institute holds regular meetings/ get-to-gather with the Alumni on annual basis. The Alumni also plays on important role in helping their junior students getting a placement and also for providing leads for industrial training. Regular communication between the Alumni and the Institute is maintained through e-mails. The Institute also gives certificate of merit to meritorious/ Active Alumni.

  • IET Group has the privilege of becoming The First Private Engineering College of Rajasthan Established in 1998 and Certified by : ISO 9001-2000.
  • It is the first college of the state to be fully accredited by NBA.
  • The Central Library is proud to be the first fully Bar Coded Library in Private Engineering Colleges in Northern India.
