To become an IAS officer you have to clear the Civil Services Exam with in 4 attempts if you are a General Category candidate. Whereas the candidates belonging to reserve category are allowed to take 7 attempts to clear Civil Services Exam to become an IAS officer. However these attempt have to be taken within the specified age limits.
