Professor Norio Taniguchi, a Tokyo Science University Professor, coined the term Nanotechnology in 1974. He came up with word to describe the precision manufacture of materials with nanometer tolerances. He pioneered the use of energy beam for ultra precision materials processing; electro discharge, microwave, electron beam, photon (laser) and ion beams.
