National Law University, Delhi is one of the newly established Law Universities in India. It was established in 2008 by Act No.1 of 2008 of National Capital Territory of Delhi and with the initiative of High Court of Delhi . The vision of the University is to create a Global Legal Institution which will compete with the best outside India and to prepare Lawyers for a legal career that introduces them to wide range of opportunities in legal profession across the globe. The University's State of Art infrastructure is near completion at Sector 14, Dwarka, New Delhi with all facilities for best of learning and research. The University initially offers a 5-year integrated B.A., LL.B (Hons.) Degree Programme with effect from the Academic Year 2008-09 starting in August, 2008. NLUD's curriculum is inspired by the UGC Curriculum Development Committee Report.

Academic Regulations for 5 Year Law Course leading to the Award of B.A., LLB. (Hons.) Degree
1. Duration of the course and semester system
a) The duration of the course shall be Five academic years.
b) Each academic year is divided into two semesters. Each semester having a minimum of ninety (90) working days.
c) The academic semesters shall be announced in advance each year and shall ordinarily be between August-December and February-June, with winter break and summer vacations during which the student will do their internship for four weeks each.

Admission of Foreign Nationals - The admission of foreign nationals is made based on satisfying the prescribed academic qualifications. They are exempted from taking the admission test. The other rules regarding the eligibility for admission will be applicable as applicable to other candidates. The annual tuition fee shall be in Indian rupees equivalent to 5,000 US Dollars for candidates from SAARC countries and US Dollars 10,000 for students from other countries.
Fee Structure
B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) 5-years Course
1. 50% of the deposits will go towards Student Welfare Fund and 50% towards Alumni-Fund on completion of the course.
2. The tuition fees shall be paid through crossed Demand Draft obtained in favour of Registrar, NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, DELHI, along with the consent letter of the candidate expressing willingness to join the course in the University. If any candidate fails to turn up for the interview for admission to the course, only 75% of the tuition fees paid will be refunded to the candidates. The non-refundable part of the tuition fees shall be utilized towards financial assistance to deserving students who could not pay the tuition fees on account of their economic backwardness, based on the recommendation of a committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor.
3. The annual tuition fees of Rs. 70,000/- (Rupees Seventy Thousand Only) for Indian Nationals, US Dollar Five Thousand for candidates from SAARC countries and US Dollar Ten Thousand for students from other countries along with other annual payments for that year from the second year onwards may be paid either in one lump sum or in two equal instalments at the commencement of each semester. Such tuition fees and other annual payments shall be paid within seven working days before the commencement of each semester. If the tuition fees and other annual payments are paid beyond the aforesaid period, it shall be paid along with late fees @ Rs. 10/- per day up to a further period of 7 working days from the expiry of the due date of payment of fees without late fees. If any student fails to pay the tuition fees and other annual payments within the aforesaid time, his/her name will be deleted from the rolls. Such candidates will be readmitted only on payment of readmission fees of Rs. 500/-, along with the late fees, till the date of payment, that too, after submission of a satisfactory report from a Professor of this University as regards his/her conduct and performance. However, in deserving cases, the Vice-Chancellor, may waive the payment of late fees and readmission fees, after recording reasons therefore.
4. The University reserves the right of admission to the subsequent year course on grounds of conduct and character.
5. Entrance Test fee is Rs. 2,000/- (SC/ST Rs.500/- and SC/ST Below Poverty Line no fee).

Dress Code - Students should follow the prescribed University dress code on Tuesdays and during University functions, meeting with visitors to the University and public lectures.

Facilities
Halls of Residence - The University is fully residential and maintains separate residence for boys and girls. The Halls of Residence shall be provided with Common Room facilities, indoor games, television and gym.
Library - The University has a rich Library that meets the specific requirements of aspiring professionals and engaged teachers. The Library has online academic & research facilities such as Lexis Nexis, Manupatra, SCC online, Westlaw etc. The Library has developed a collection of Primary and Secondary resources such as Case Law, Constitution, Legislation, Reporting Journals, Parliamentary Proceedings, Treaties, Academic Journals, Judicial & Administrative Decisions, India & Foreign Books and other resources related to National and International information in print as well as digital form. The NLUD Library subscribes to 60 International Legal Journals & 20 National Legal Journals. The Library currently houses a unique collection of 22,000 documents comprising; Books, Academic and Reporting Journals, Committee & Commission Reports, Legislative Materials (Central & State Legislation) & Subordinate Legislation, Reference Materials like Legal Dictionaries, Legal Encyclopaedia, Directories, and Study Material Compilations for Students. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is made available for browsing the collection of the Library
Internet / Computer Centre - The campus is wi-fi enabled. The Internet Centre has 50 high ends desktop with Microsoft operating system well equipped with optical drives. Besides this a separate bay is also available for laptop users. The Internet Centre is supported with 3 servers and with a high speed bandwidth, centrally document & print facility is also available to meet the growing challenge of internet usage & e-learning, the centre support students for research & e-learning of the next-generation. The Internet Centre also works closely with leading academic stakeholders of the next-generation Internet, such as Manupatra, Lexis Nexis etc.
Classrooms - University Classrooms are well equipped with LCD projector & display screen and internet (wi-fi) access. The Students are required to purchase Laptop/PC for making best use of internet connectivity for research purpose.
Scholarships - The needy students will be provided need-based scholarship financial assistance to pursue their studies at the University. Under the Scheme, the students awarded scholarship/need-based financial assistance of any kind shall have to repay the said amount to the University (without interest) within 2 years of the completion of the course. The students will execute a bond to that effect.
Pre-Appointment Training for Officers of Assam Judicial Services - National Law University, Delhi has been assigned the task of providing an 8 month Pre-Appointment Training for the Officers of Assam Judicial Services. This training is first of its kind in the country being offered by any Law University. This concept of Pre-Appointment Training itself is a new concept being the brain child of Justice J. Chelameshwar, Chief Justice of Guahati High Court. Though the concept of a mandatory training is not new in the wake of Supreme Court’s judgement in Judge’s case but the training which was imparted earlier was post-appointment and by the State Judicial Academies. Guahati High Court and the National Law University, Delhi have the distinction of conceiving such training programme. The Training is being conducted with the active support of Delhi High Court. This is a fully residential training and the batch of 60 candidates, selected by the Guahati High Court, are undergoing this training at National Law University, Delhi.

Moot Courts - Moot Courts provide a thrust area of Legal Education by integration theory and practice of Law in campus settings. The mooting in NLU, DELHI is a serious activity. The moot court activities are coordinated by the faculty adviser to the Moot Court Committee. Members of the faculty help students in preparing for Moot Court Competitions.

Debates Competitions - These are held from time to time and are helpful in developing the intellect of the students.
Seminars & Conferences - The University organises various Seminars & Conferences from time to time.
Transport - The University is in the process of procuring buses for being used for the student’s activities such as court visits, Legal Aid Programmes and Clinics. The University is connected through Metro Rail and DTC bus services.
Bank - UCO Bank has extension-counter for transactions on specified days of the week between 1-2 p.m. Students can open their accounts with the UCO Bank. The UCO Bank will be opening an ATM facility on the Campus.
Sports/Games - The facilities for sports are planned in the additional land which will be available to the University for the purpose, shortly. Gymnasium, Tennis-Court and swimming-pool are in the pipe-line.
Facilities for Conferences/Seminars - There is a provision for Conference/Seminar rooms in the Administration Block, which is nearing completion and will be furnished with state-of the-art facilities, soon.
Auditorium - A fully air-conditioned auditorium with a sitting capacity of over 650 people is nearing completion which will be equipped with latest and state-of-the-art audio and visual facilities. This will be used for organizing University functions including seminars and conferences.
