Kushabhau Thakre Journalism and Mass Communication University Act was passed in December 2004 by the Chhattisgarh Assembly and its publication in the Gazette on January 24, 2005. It is named after Late Shri Kushabhau Thakre. He has been worshipped as a true “NishkamKarmYogi” (A selfless man who is devoted to his work honestly without caring for the fruits) in India’s political and Social scenario. The University was established on December 2004. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee inaugurated the University on 16 April 2005 at Raipur amidst the greeting of eminent journalist, educationalist, literatures, social workers and senior politicians.
Location and Transportation - The university is located at a self contained campus at Kota stadium Raipur. It is roughly 6 km away from the railway station near Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur. The Airport is around 20 km. Auto Rickshaw charges Rs. 35-40 from the railway station.
