Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU) has been established by an Act (No.25 0f 2004) of Legislature passed by the Chhattisgarh State Govt. Assembly, wide notification No.639/21-A/Prarupan/2004 date 21st Jan 2005 and published in the State Govt. gazette 24th January, 2005. The University provides systematic, efficient and qualitative education in engineering and technological subjects including Architecture and Pharmacy at Research, Postgraduate, Degree and Diploma level. The foundation stone of the University was laid down by Hon'ble Dr. Manmohan Sigh, the Prime Minister, Government of India on April 30th 2005. CSVTU offers educational courses at different levels through its different constituent and affiliated colleges and other educational centres. During the session 2008-09, 21 new engineering colleges, 3 polytechnics, 3 MBA & 1 pharmacy institution have come up thereby making the total number of 37 engineering colleges, 15 polytechnics, 10 pharmacy and 3 MBA institutions.

Facilities

TePP Outreach Centre - Technoprenure Promotion Programme Outreach Centre has been created to provide economic value and meet social needs, entrepreneurial thinking, and action at multiple levels across multiple disciplines. It has been established in collaboration with department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

International Linkage - The University has a International Memorandum of Understanding with Michigan Technological University to promote educational excellence, academic ties and international cooperation.

Problem Based Learning - The university has started "Problem Based Learning" in Bachelor degree courses of engineering and technology. The problems are identified with the help of neighbouring industries and engineering organizations. The university welcomes sharing and interacting with other universities of the world on the topic of "Problem Based Learning".

Centre for Nanotechnology & Material Research -  The Centre is involved in assimilating the revolution in the field of Nano Science and develop and utilize the technology for the bright future of man power. The areas of current academic and industrial activities involving the use of nano structure approach will be considered as program components.

Research & Development - About 90 researchers of various discipline of engineering education institutions have submitted their applications so far for getting registered as Ph.D. Scholars. After scrutiny of applications and presentation of the proposal by the candidate before the Research Degree Committee and inspection of the Place of Research, 29 candidates have been so  far registered carrying out their research work leading to Ph.D.

Journal - The University is publishing its own “Research Journal” entitled “CSVTU Research Journal” once in every six month. The Journal has been registered and assigned ISSN (print) by NISCAIR (National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources – Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) ISSN 0974-8726 CSVTU Research Journal (Print). The Research Journal includes the research paper in the field Civil engineering, Computer Science, Electrical engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication, Management, Mechanical engineering, Metallurgical engineering, Mining engineering, Physical Science and applied mathematics.

Summer Vacation Practical Training - Under the scheme of Teaching and Problem and Project based Learning the students of BE 4th semester and 6th semester are required to undergo practical training during the Summer Vacation at various industries/professional organization for a minimum period of 4 weeks. During the training, they  visit the assigned departments and observe the working of the equipment and become familiar with work culture, production norms, productivity, cost effectiveness and other aspect which are relevant to their course curriculum. After completion of 4 weeks training, they prepare training report and submit it to their respective Head of the Department. The Institutions, on the basis of presentation made by the students select the best students from every branch and forward the same to the University for inter college competition. The University, in its premise organizes the inter college competition to select the best student from each branch by means of reputed Judge from industry & awards the winner students during annual function of the University.
