AIMCET 2024 - All India MCA Common Entrance Test acronym AIMCET is conducted on the National level by the Indian Institutes of Technology Roorkee on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India for admission to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) Program offered by IIT's and many leading Universities and Colleges. It is one of the most popular CET Entrance Exams in India. This test is for those institutions that are presently holding their own entrance tests and admitting a certain percentage of them on an all-India basis. Students admitted on an Indian basis in the State level institutions shall be admitted only through the AIMCET.

AIMCET 2024 Eligibility

Educational Qualification

  • Aspiring candidates with a Bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at the (10+2) or at the Bachelor's level are eligible to take this test. OR
  • All those candidates who are appearing at the Bachelor's degree examination in the respective year and fulfill the aforementioned criteria are also eligible but they will have to furnish proof of having passed the Bachelor's degree examination at the time of admission to the respective institutes.

Note: Indian Nationals are only eligible to apply for this test.

 

AIMCET 2024 Syllabus

AIMCET exam consists of the following given subject:

Mathematics

  • Algebra: Fundamental operations in Algebra, Expansion, factorization, simultaneous linear/quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations and combinations, surds, determinants, matrices, and application to the solution of simultaneous linear equations. 
  • Coordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, equations of a line, midpoint, intersections, etc., equations of a circle, distance formulae, the pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, simple geometric transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.
  • Calculus: Limit of functions, continuous functions, differentiation of functions(s), Tangents and normal, simple examples of maxima and minima, Integration of function by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integral application to volumes and surfaces of frustums of a sphere, cone, cylinder, Taylor Series. 
  • Differential Equations: Differential equations of the first order and their solutions, linear differential equations with constant coefficients, homogenous linear differential equations.
  • Vector: The position vector, additions and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products, and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics.
  • Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, a solution of triangles, height and distance, inverse function
  • Probability and Statistics: Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, and measures of dispersions, skewness and kurtosis, random variable and distribution functions, mathematical expectations, Binomial, Poisson, normal distributions, curve fitting, and the principle of least squares, correlation, and regression
  • Linear Programming: Formulation of simple linear programming problems, basic concepts of graphical and simplex methods

Data Representation

  • Representation of characters, integers, and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, Binary Arithmetic: Addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, single arithmetic, and two complement arithmetic, floating-point representation of numbers, normalized floating-point representation, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams
  • Computer Architecture: Block structure of computers, communication between the processor and I / O devices, interrupts
  • Computer Language: Assembly language and high-level language, Multiprogramming and time-sharing operating systems, Computer Programming in C.
  • Flowchart and Algorithms

Computer Awareness

General Awareness

  • Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, memory organization, backup devices
  • This section shall carry questions to test the general awareness of the business, finance, industry, transportation, scientific inventions, governance, healthcare, cultural dimensions, etc.

Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning

  • The questions in this section will cover logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, visuospatial reasoning

 

AIMCET 2024 Pattern

All India MCA Common Entrance Test (AIMCET) is a multiple-choice based entrance exam, with negative marking for wrong answers.

MCA Entrance Exam question paper comprises four main sections consisting:

  • For every incorrect answer, one mark shall be deducted.

  • The application form and the bulletin can be obtained on payment of Rs. 1300/- (Rs. 650/- for SC/ST candidates).
