B.Tech (Petroleum Engineering) or Bachelor of Technology in Petroleum Engineering is an Under-Graduate Petroleum Engineering course. Petroleum engineering is an engineering discipline concerned with the activities related to the production of hydrocarbons, which can be either crude oil or natural gas. Subsurface activities are deemed to fall within the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry, which are the activities of finding and producing hydrocarbons.
During the Bachelor of Technology course in Petroleum Engineering, it taught about petroleum geology and geophysics which focus on the provision of a static description of the hydrocarbon reservoir rock, while petroleum engineering focuses on estimation of the recoverable volume of this resource using a detailed understanding of the physical behavior of oil, water, and gas within porous rock at very high pressure. The duration of the Bachelor of Technology course in Petroleum Engineering is four years and it may be offered by certain institutes on a correspondence basis as well. After the completion of the Petroleum Engineering course, the candidates are given a lot of job opportunities in the petroleum sector.
B.Tech (Petroleum Engineering) Eligibility

B.Tech (Petroleum Engineering) Course Suitability
As most jobs in engineering require teamwork, so they should embody the quality of team spirit. They often interact with specialists in a wide range of fields outside engineering. So, candidates having these qualities are a good match for it.
They should also communicate well, both orally and in writing. Along with this they should be creative, inquisitive, and analytical and have an eye for detail.
Other qualities they should have are research skills to pursue a course in petroleum engineering. Decision-making and problem-solving skills are of great importance in Petroleum Engineering, which are part of managerial skills.
How is the B.Tech (Petroleum Engineering) Course Beneficial?
If you want to pursue a career in petroleum engineering, you should be aware that the job of a petroleum engineer is not restricted to air-conditioned offices. Most petroleum engineers work in the fields except those who are responsible for analyzing the reports and recommending the field engineers and advising corporate decision-makers on whether to proceed or not.
Therefore, the field engineers should have to be mentally as well as physically strong enough to endure long-distance travel, and long stays and bear uncertain weather conditions. Besides, petroleum engineers have to work with a team of geologists and contractors, which is why they should also possess strong and effective communication skills.
Petroleum engineers search the world for reservoirs containing oil and natural gas. Upon discovery of these resources, the world with geologists and other specialists to understand the geologic formation and properties of the rock containing the reservoir, determine the drilling methods to be used, and monitor drilling and production operations.
Petroleum engineers design equipment and processes to achieve maximum and profitable recovery of oil and gas. They rely heavily on computer models to simulate reservoir performance using different recovery techniques.
Also, graduates can go for their Masters’s degree for teaching purposes.
