About RK University

R.K. University (RKU) is a Private University established in 2011 under Gujarat Private Universities Act 2009 by the Government of Gujarat. It is the First Private University in Saurashtra, Gujarat. RKU is managed by Shri Shamjibhai Harjibhai Talavia Charitable Trust (SHTC) which has been engaged in various social welfare activities. SHTC Trust and RKU are non-profit and charitable organizations working solely for the betterment of society. All Courses offered by RK University are recognized by bodies such as, UGC, AICTE, PCI, IAP, DTE etc. The university has a residential campus with a built-up area of 165300 sq. fts. located at the outskirts of Rajkot city.

Facilities at RKU

Hostels – Separate residential facilities are provided for girls and boys in the campus. The rooms are facilitated with attached washroom, bed, table, chair and almirahs. The Hostels have provisions for hot water round the clock, through solar heaters. Indoor and outdoor sports facilities are also provided to the students.

Libraries – The University has a central library with various schools of the University having separate libraries their own. All the libraries collectively have a collection of about 85,000 books, 700 national/international journals, 2000 educational CDs etc. There are separate study Halls in addition to these.

Wi-Fi Enabled Campus - Wi-Fi internet facility is provided to the students and the faculty to share, download and access information from anywhere in the campus.

Dining Facilities - There are four different mess halls, which can accommodate more than 500 students at any given time, serve wholesome and hygienic food 4 times a day. The cafeteria provides fresh and hygienic food to students. It is also an ideal place for students to hangout and spend leisure time. Arrangement has been made for the boys and girls to dine separately.

Transport Facilities - The University has a fleet of more than 35 buses to transport students and staff from various parts of the city to the university and back home.

ATM Facility – University offers banking services within the campus premises.

Educational Loans – Students can avail Student Education Loan from Bank of Baroda, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank.

Scholarships – There is provision of Scholarships for various undergraduate programs and post graduate programmes.

Gymnasium and Sports Facilities – There is a gymnasium and sports building, fully-equipped with the latest equipment within the campus.

Medical Facility - There is an emergency Ambulance van available round the clock. In house physiotherapy centre for the need of campus students and staff members.

Open Air Theatre - A rooftop open air theatre has been built for enjoying sunsets.

Counselling – The University has appointed counsellors who are there to solve the problems of students in context of family issues, studies, home sickness etc. They help in tackling everyday stressful situations and also give psychological support.

Sports Facilities – The University provides all the necessary facilities and equipment to the students for maintaining physical fitness and good health. The University sports facilities include - Cricket Ground, Football Grounds, Tennis Court, Basket Ball Courts etc. Apart from these are there are fitness and strength conditioning centres in the campus.  

R.O. Plant - R.O. Plant takes care of pure and safe drinking water on campus.

Training and Placement - Separate cell has been established with full time staff for placement supported by dedicated team at each college and department level in order to guide students. The Training and Placement service operates year round to facilitate contacts between companies and graduates. It responds to student’s question and concern of all kinds and provides all the information and skills necessary for an effective job search.

Activities:

• Summer Internship - Each student has to undertake summer training in companies of repute for duration of 6-8 weeks. Students are required to work on projects given to them either by the sponsoring organization or selected by the students themselves. The project report/thesis is an intensive learning exercise for students to apply particular theoretical concepts into practical situations as experienced in an industrial Environment.

• Mock Campus - The Event is meant to equip the students to perform better in Campus Placements which gives the replica of Final Campus Placement activities for all the Final Year Students. It allows Students to gain experience and practice in answering questions similar to ones asked during an interview. The Training and Placement Department acquires the role of the interviewer and make the Mock Campus interviews as realistic as possible by conducting Pre-Placement Talks, Aptitude Tests, Technical Interviews, HR Interviews by asking questions that are typical of those that might be asked for the type of position students are seeking during Campus Placement Day. The students are provided with a detailed analysis Report on their strengths and weaknesses after the event.
