Adesh University is a Private University specializing in Medical Education. It was established by the State of Punjab in July 2012 by Act no. 6 of 2012 of the Government of Punjab, notified under Punjab Government Gazette. Adesh University, Bathinda is managed by Adesh Foundation, which has established various healthcare, medical and technical institutes in Punjab. Adesh Foundation was established in 1995 in Sri Muktsar Sahib, an underdeveloped area of Southern Punjab, with aim and objectives of serving humanity in the sphere of health care as well as medical, paramedical, and technical education. Dr. H.S. Gill, M. D. (Medicine), a great visionary, socialist, and educationist, is the founder and Chairman of Adesh Foundation and is the Chancellor of Adesh University. Dr. (Lt Col) G.P.I. Singh, M. D., DIH, a man with great research acumen and a vision for innovation, is the founder and Vice-Chancellor of Adesh University. Adesh University has been specially established to make Malwa, the under-developed and backward belt of Punjab, a hub of academic activity and a leading force in the field of Medical and Technical Education, complemented by research activities. It is not only an affiliating and examining body but also a teaching and research center in Medical and allied health sciences. The University has been recognized by various regulatory bodies like the Medical Council of India, the Dental Council of India, the Pharmacy Council of India, and the Indian Nursing Council.
Admitted students will have to furnish a Bank Guarantee or Surety Bond for the amount equivalent to the remaining year's course fee along with the undertaking that he/ she will not leave the studies in midstream without completing the full course due to any reason whatsoever, until and unless he/she deposits the balance amount of fee for the full course in the format prescribed by the University. The objective of this provision is to safeguard the unaided Institute from resultant financial loss on account of such a student’s seat remaining vacant for the remaining period of the course. If any candidate decides to leave the Institute after the last date of admission or before completing the full course due to any reason whatsoever, the security will stand forfeited. In addition, he will have to pay all the balance fees for the entire course. For this purpose, the candidates will have to furnish at the time of admission, a Bank Guarantee or Surety Bond for the amount equivalent to the balance fee for the entire duration of the course along with an affidavit duly sworn in by the candidate by an Executive Magistrate.
Constituent Institutes of Adesh University
Location – The campus is located on the main Bathinda-Barnala National highway No. 7 adjacent to Bathinda Cantonment with good road and rail connections to all major cities in Punjab and India. The campus is at a distance of about 12 km from Bathinda Railway Station.
Facilities at Adesh University
Lecture Theatre – The University has air-conditioned Lecture Theatres equipped with multimedia and other audiovisual facilities.
Library – Most of the constituent institutes have their own separate Libraries. The library at the dental college is centralized air-conditioned and is located on the second and third floors of the College building. It has well-ventilated and illuminated expansive reading rooms. The library has a vast collection of books pertaining to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses and subscribes to more than 100 national and international journals. The library is also equipped with a large number of computers having a lease line internet facility.
Auditorium – It is centrally air-conditioned with modern audio visual aids. It also serves as an examination hall. It has a seating capacity of 1200 persons. It is used for regional and state-level events and others.
