About Indian Institute of Information Technology - IIIT Vadodara

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Vadodara (IIIT-V) is an Institute of higher education specialising in providing education of Information Technology and its peripheral areas. IIIT is the generic name for several Institutes of Information Technology in India and IIITV is one of them. The institute has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The partners in this project are Government of India, Government of Gujarat, Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute, Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals and Tata Consultancy Services. The Institute was established in the year 2013. Indian Institute of Information Technology, Vadodara has been established to cater to the emerging needs and opportunities and meet economic challenges being thrown by the incessant IT revolution. The Government of Gujarat has lent support to the Institute by providing 50 acres of land and Building.

Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), Gandhinagar has been entrusted the responsibility of mentoring IIIT Vadodara. DA-IICT ensures that the academic activity of IIITV continues efficiently and some of DAIICT faculty members teach some courses as visiting faculty. As of 2015, the Institute is functioning from Block Number 9 of Government Engineering College Gandhinagar. While the name of the Institute is Indian Institute of Information Technology Vadodara, it is located at Gandhinagar, this is because the permanent campus of the university is located in Vadodra. Until the Vadodra Campus develops fully it will keep functioning from the temporary location in Gandhinagar.

The nearest International Airport is Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, which is roughly 26 minutes drive from Gandhinagar.

By Road

Gandhinagar is 26 Kms. from Ahmedabad, 78 Kms. from Nadiad, 95 Kms. from Anand, 107 Kms. from Vadhana, 134 Kms. from Vadodara, 150 Kms. from Godhra, 158 Kms. from Kalol, 240 Kms. from Rajkot and is linked through Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) and some private travel services.

By Train

The nearest Railway Station is Ahmedabad Railway Station which is connected to the major cities of Gujarat and is 26 Kms. from Gandhinagar.

Facilities at IIIT-V

Hostels - The Institute does not have its own hostel building as of 2015, therefore, private premises havebeen hired to house the hostel of the institute. The facility has rooms which can accommodate 4 students per room. Mess facility is available at hostel. The hostel is about 4 kms. away from the Institute. Students are transported by bus to the Institute.

Rotaract Club - The club organises activities which provide the students the opportunity to acquire social skills, leadership skills, team spirit, interpersonal skills and organizational values, it organises meetings and takes up various social initiatives such as polio eradication, clean India campaign and other social welfare activities.
