B.Tech Mainframe Technology or Bachelor of Technology in Mainframe Technology is an Under-Graduate Information Technology course. A mainframe, sometimes known as a "big iron," is a high-performance computer used for large-scale computing tasks that need more availability and security than a smaller-scale system can provide. Mainframes have traditionally been associated with centralized rather than distributed computing, however, this difference is becoming increasingly blurred as smaller computers get more powerful and mainframes become more multi-purpose. IBM now stresses the ability of its mainframes to service dispersed customers and smaller servers in a computing network. The Mainframe Technology course lasts four years and is divided into eight semesters.
