M.Tech Information Technology or Master of Technology in Information Technology is a two-year Post-Graduate degree program that aims to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge on the advanced fundamental study of computer-based information systems.
M.Tech in Information Technology) degree course covers the study of a variety of functions performed by IT engineers; right from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases. The M.Tech (Information Technology) degree topics generally cover the study of the three main areas of specialization in Information Technology namely network administration, computer support, and programming.
The M.Tech (Information Technology) programs in India are usually structured as an Engineering Research degree, lesser than Ph.D., and M.Tech (Information Technology) course is broad in nature covering all major areas of network administration, computer support, and programming. Many elective subjects are made available to students to enable them to specialize in any of the major fields in IT studies such as in Human-Computer Interaction, Bioinformatics, Wireless Communication, and Computing, Microelectronics, Robotics, Software Engineering, and Intelligent Systems.
M.Tech Information Technology Eligibility
- Candidates should have passed the Graduation degree program, i.e., either in BE / B.Tech in Information Technology or equivalent examination
- Must possess at least 55% aggregate marks at the Graduation level
- Alternatively, a candidate who has passed the Associate Membership of the Institute of Engineers (AMIE) examination with appropriate specialization in Information Technology is also considered eligible for admission to M.Tech. (Information Technology) degree course.
- Some of the very reputed universities and institutes conduct entrance examinations to get admission to their M.Tech (Information Technology) degree courses.
- Generally, admission is through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) Score Merit List.
