M.Tech Mechanical Engineering or Master of Technology in Mechanical Engineering is a postgraduate Mechanical Engineering course. It is a two years specialization program that deals with the study of mechanics, statics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, and structural analysis used in the designing, development, construction, production, installation, operation, and maintenance of tools, machines, and various other mechanical equipment such as automobiles, trucks, airplanes, trains, space vehicles, lathes, milling machines, grinders, large steam and gas turbines, components of thermal power stations, internal combustion engines, jet engines, air conditioning and heating machines, refrigerators, etc.
In short, the Mechanical Engineering degree course mainly focuses on the study of the application of the principles of mechanics and energy to the design of machines and devices. The Master of Technology in Mechanical Engineering programs in India are usually structured as an Engineering Research degree and are offered on a large scale by most of engineering institutes.
The Master of Technology in Mechanical Engineering course is broad in nature covering all major areas of design, thermal, and production engineering. Many elective subjects are made available to students in order to enable them to specialize in any of the three major fields viz. design, thermal, and production engineering.
