BE Welding Technology or Bachelor of Engineering in Welding Technology is an Under-Graduate Mechanical Engineering course. Welding Technology is the process of joining together two pieces of metal so that bonding accompanied by appreciable inter-atomic penetration takes place at their original boundary surfaces and its duration is four years. The field of welding engineering is an emerging sub-discipline of engineering focused on design, manufacturing, and joining processes.

As a specialist on the engineering team, the technologist not only understands the welding processes used in metal fabrication but is also trained in quality control, welding metallurgy, codes, fabrication techniques, inspection, drafting, weld design, management/supervision, and computer skills. Practical welding skills are also developed to gain an in-depth understanding of welding processes.

Welding is used as a fabrication process in every industry large or small. It is a principal means of fabricating and repairing metal products. The process is efficient, economical, and dependable as a means of joining metals. This is the only process that has been tried in space. The process finds its applications in air, underwater, and space.

BE Welding Technology Eligibility

  • Aspiring candidates must have passed their 10+2 examination with the Science stream or its equivalent from a recognized Board.
  • The students should have scored a minimum of 70% aggregate marks at their Intermediate level.
  • Some reputed colleges and institutes conduct an entrance examination for admission.
