M.Tech Nuclear Engineering or Master of Technology in Nuclear Engineering is a two-year Post-Graduate program. Nuclear engineering is the branch of engineering concerned with the application of the breakdown (fission) as well as the fusion of atomic nuclei and the application of other sub-atomic physics, based on the principles of nuclear physics. The Master of Technology program in Nuclear Engineering provides research and development expertise in the experimental and theoretical studies of fusion and plasma physics, radioisotope applications in manufacturing engineering, computer-aided tomography, reactor safety studies, heat transfer in nuclear sub-systems, and the development of radiation detectors.

Nuclear Engineers in the Master of Technology program research and develop the processes, instruments, and systems used to derive benefits from nuclear energy and radiation. They design, develop, monitor, and operate nuclear plants to generate power. They may work on the nuclear fuel cycle such as production, handling, and use of nuclear fuel and the safe disposal of waste produced by the generation of nuclear energy or on the development of fusion energy. Some specialize in the development of nuclear power sources for naval vessels or spacecraft; others find industrial and medical uses for radioactive materials, as in equipment used to diagnose and treat medical problems.

M.Tech Nuclear Engineering Eligibility

  • The students should have passed a BE / B.Tech (Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Computer Science & Engineering / Electronics & Communication Engineering)
  • The candidates should have scored a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA.

M.Tech Nuclear Engineering Colleges

M.Tech Nuclear Engineering Course Suitability

  • Graduates will be able to perform a broad-spectrum analysis of a multidisciplinary problem, think of innovative solutions, and successfully implement the chosen solution.
  • Graduates will be able to become project managers, service managers, or factory managers.
  • The course is suitable to acquire the high-level skills needed to design and run electro-nuclear power stations, taking into account the legal prescriptions and regulations relating to the safety of these plants.

How is the M.Tech Nuclear Engineering Course Beneficial?

  • Beneficial to provide in-depth training in the field of nuclear reactor physics for the purpose of using existing tools, developing and installing third-generation reactors, and designing and developing the future systems still known as 'integrated systems'.
  • The program equips you with basic and advanced knowledge related to the energy conversion process based on nuclear fission.
  • The course is beneficial for further studies in research as Ph.D.
