Set of unique symbols or characters that represent language's sounds are known as alphabets Each alphabet usually represents a simple vowel, a diphthong - two vowels -, or one or two consonants. In short, we can say that alphabets are the smallest building blocks of a language. English has a total of 26 letters out of which 21 are known as Consonants and the remaining 5 (a, e, i, o, u) are known as vowels.
