Policeman/Constable is a security person who helps in maintaining law and order in society.
The selection process for Policeman/Constable varies from state to state in India. At some of the places, the variance can be seen in qualifications such as educational qualifications, physical measurements and other selection criteria for it. The below-mentioned selection process for Constable is given as per the rules and regulations of Haryana State.
Note: the selection process for Constable Recruitment in every state is subjected to change for time to time as per the circumstances prevalent there.
The minimum educational qualification for a candidate to be eligible for selection as constable shall be the 12th class for all categories.
Other Eligibility Criteria-
Age Limit: Candidates minimum age limit should be 18 years and maximum age limit should be 25 years. Age relaxation will be applicable as per the rules.
Character Certificate: Candidates are required to produce a certificate of character from the Principal Academic Officer of the University, College, School or Institution last attended.
Application Fee: Candidates have to pay online fees of Rs.100/- for Male and Rs.50/- for female candidates in any branch of State Bank of Patiala.
Selection Process: Candidates would be selected based on their performance in Physical Measurement, Physical Efficiency test and interview.
How to Apply: Eligible candidates can submit applications through online along with application fees at the website www.hprbonline.com or www.hprbonline.in on or before the last date and take registration No and ID No for future reference of application and for the reprinting of the online filled application form and e-challan form.
Physical Standard:
Male Constables:-
(i) Height-Minimum 5’-7”
(ii) Chest-Un-expanded – Minimum 33” (Expanded - Minimum 34 ½ )
(Minimum expansion of one and a half inch) (Note - Relaxation in Physical Standard to the extent of one inch in height and one inch in the chest will be available to candidates belonging to Scheduled caste and backwards Class categories as per the Rules.
For Female Constables-
Height- Minimum 5’-2”
(Note - Relaxation in Physical Standard to the extent of one inch in height will be available to candidates belonging to Scheduled caste and backwards Class categories as per the Rules.
Reservation:
The reservation for dependents of Ex.-Servicemen is applicable as per Haryana Govt. instructions issued from time to time. The dependants’ daughters of ESM who fulfil all conditions of qualification, age etc. prescribed for posts, will be considered in the merit for the posts reserved for ESM to extent of non-availability of suitable ESM candidates. They are required to compete like General, SC, BC categories.
DESM candidates of Haryana claiming the benefit of reservation will have to produce the fresh eligibility certificate from the concerned Zila Sainik Board at the time of interview. A mere dependent certificate will not be entertained.
The benefit of reservation will be given only to that SC/BC/SBC/EBP (GC) /DESM who are domicile of Haryana State. The SC/BC/SBC/EBP (GC)/DESM candidates are required to submit original certificate duly issued by the competent authority at the time of interview.
How to Apply:
The application can be submitted online only along with application fees for a particular category of post as applicable.
Government employees are eligible provided that they fulfil all the requisite conditions and apply through proper channel.
Last Date:
The online application can be filled as per date fixed and after which the link will be disabled. The candidates are strictly advised to apply online well in time without waiting for the last date of submission of online application. No offline application form will be accepted by the office.
Application Fee:
The General Category candidates and dependent daughters of ESM are required to pay application fee of Rs. 100/- to be deposited in Haryana Government Treasury under the head “0051-Public Service Commission-NA-104-UPSC/SSC Examination Fees -99-Fees from application to the Haryana Police Recruitment Board. The candidates shall mention the treasury challan number and date of the fees in the online application at the relevant Column ESM candidates are exempted from payment of application fees.

Selection shall be made in accordance with the provisions in Punjab Police Rules. After due scrutiny of application forms, candidates found eligible shall be informed online regarding the place, date and time of their Physical Measurement:-
(a) Physical Measurement:
Candidates who are found eligible for the screening of applications will be screened for height and chest measurements. Only those candidates will be allowed to participate in Physical Efficiency Test who possesses required measurements.
(b) Physical Efficiency Test:
Candidates found eligible on the basis of physical measurements shall undergo Physical Efficiency Test (PET) of total 20 marks. Candidates shall be tested for following capacities as per Rules.

(c) Interview:
The candidates for the post of Male Constable securing qualifying marks (15) and for the post of Female Constable securing qualifying marks (12) respectively in Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be called for interview.
(d) Tips for Preparing Exam and Interview:
The test comprises of objective type questions on G.K. and Current affairs. Aspirants need to have thorough knowledge in the day-to-day affairs carrying all through the world so as to clear the test. Questions on English language and numerical aptitude should also be included in the test. Aspirants can get hold of specialized books and preceding question papers so as to prepare for the test. By referring and working out sample papers, they may get more confidence in attending the test. They can self-evaluate their solved papers so as to understand their weaker portions.
The primary duties of the constables include like providing bailiff services to Justice of the Peace courtrooms, serving civil process, executing warrants issued by the Courts and executing misdemeanour traffic warrants. Many constables also maintain the duties of school truancy officers within their assigned county. Policemen, mostly do physical duties in various forms assigned by the seniors.
Mostly, they have good opportunities in the government sector, but they can also have jobs in the private sector. Policemen/Constables can work in partnership with the communities they serve to maintain law and order, protect members of the public and their property, prevent crime, reduce the fear of crime and improve the quality of life for all citizens.
They can also work closely with members of the criminal justice system, social workers, schools, local businesses, health trusts, housing authorities, town planners and community groups to provide advice, education and assistance to those who wish to reduce crime or have been affected by crime.
The pay scale of a Constable is ranging from Rs. 5,200 to Rs. 20,200 plus GP of Rs. 2000 per month. Their monthly salary increases with increasing in ranks and others rules related to pay scales in different states in India.
