Economics for Kids

Economics is not just money. Indeed, it is part of almost everything you could ever think about. The study of Economics for kids and beginners can comprise of the following lessons and topics:

  • Introduction to Money:     The introduction to money as the introduction to economics for kids includes topics such as: what money is, where it comes from, and what we do with it. 
  • Earning Money:      Study of different ways of making money. Study of concepts such as earnings statements, time card sheets, income and income statements, health insurance, deductions, etc. 
  • Spending Money:   Spending money is an interesting topic to reinforce students' basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and other skills such as reading comprehension. 
  • Saving Money:        Study of different methods of saving the money so earned. 
  • Needs and Wants:  Making a child to understand the difference between needs and wants.
  • Goods and Services:         Making a child to understand the difference between the goods and services and also identify different workers providing goods and services.    
  • Opportunity Cost:  Introduction to the basic economics concept of opportunity cost.

Paying Taxes:         What are taxes, why do we pay taxes and what do the governments do with these taxes i.e. learning about what & where they are used for.
