Medical economics is a term often used synonymously with Health Economics. It is the branch of economics concerned with the cost-benefit analysis of pharmaceutical products and cost-effectiveness of various medical treatments. Medical economics often uses mathematical models to synthesise data from biostatistics and epidemiology to support medical decision making, both for individuals and for overall health and health care systems and policies being followed in a society.
