KLEF (Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation) established Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering in the year 1980 affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University. It was founded by the late Sri Koneru Lakshmaiah and Sri K.Satyanarayana at Vaddeswaram. It was renamed Koneru Lakshmaiah University. The college became autonomous in the year 2006 and from 2009 onwards it has become Deemed to be University. It is the only Engineering Institute in the state of Andhra Pradesh permitted by AICTE to admit Foreign Nationals. It has a Flexible Academic system where students can do courses in specialized streams as per their choice leading to major, minor and dual degree programs. The Faculty of the Institute, numbering 375+, out of which 78 are doctorates and 150+ are pursuing their Ph.D. is one of the best in any Engineering Institute. The Institute is a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) which gives an edge to it in the Industry - Institution interaction. The Institute has achieved 100% placements in 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 and progressed towards 100% during 2008-09. Many companies have established Virtual Industry on campus which allows the students of the Institute to do the projects of the Industry within the campus. The Institute has a strong Industrial Relations and Placements Department with offices in various cities in India. It looks after the Industry Institution Interaction and placements. 84 laboratories of various Departments to perform 107 different lab activities. The Institute also offers Bridge Courses to students coming from disadvantaged backgrounds to make them competent to take up the various courses on par with other students. The Institute has signed MOUs with Various National and Multinational Industries which helps the students to visit the Industries and get practical experience.
Location - KLU is located on a 44-acre campus abutting Buckingham Canal, about 9 km. from Vijayawada railway station, at vaddeswarm, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. Vijayawada is located on the banks of river Krishna in the State of Andhra Pradesh and is historically a cultural, political, and educational center, popularly known as ‘Vidyalawada’.
Transportation - The city is well connected by National Highways and Railways with Chennai (440 Km.), Hyderabad (275 Km.) and Vizag (385 Km.). It is the main junction for trains running from North to South India. There are daily flights to Vijayawada (Gannavaram Airport) from various airports like Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

Hostels - KL University has separate hostels for boys and girls with well-furnished rooms and modern amenities. The girls' hostel is on the campus itself and houses 600 students. The boys' hostel is a short walk from the college accommodating 600 students. Every student in the hostel is provided with a cot, study table, chair and a rack. Fan and light are also provided in each room.

Library - The library system consists of the Central Library and 13 departmental libraries, which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programs of the institute. he library has a huge collection of books on Engineering, Management, Science and Humanities offers library services through its various divisions. An air conditioned Central Library with a carpet area of 1500 Sq.m. with Digital facility, Web OPAC and DELNET. The central library has a collection of 220 video lectures.The Library remains open on all days of year. Digital Library is a part of the Central Library with wide network built up of fiber optic Giga-byte Ethernet backbone. Digital library has 60 computer terminals to access Internet/ e-Learning material. It also has a CD Server with 1000 CD capacity. The Central Library is a member of DELNET, ASME, IEEE, ACM, MAA, MIS, Bio Pharma International, Geo Technical Engineering, Nature, IE, Computer Society of India and SPRINGER LINK. It has 80000+ No. of Volumes.
Practice School - As part of the curriculum, KLU has introduced an innovative concept of Practice School for one full semester. This allows the students to undergo training in the industry which provides them with hands-on experience in the industry. This also bridges the gap between industry and academics. It enables students to have a smooth transition from academics to professional life, and enhances interpersonal skills, communication skills, leadership qualities, etc.
Life Skills and Inner Engineering - Along with the regular programs every student admitted into KLU undergoes a one-week special life skills/orientation program. Through this program, KLU is producing the students with the clarity of thought and charity at heart. Strict regularity, implicit obedience, courtesy in speech and conduct, and cleanliness in dress and person is expected of each KLU student, Life skills and inner engineering teach a student his/her obligations towards GOD, himself/herself his/her country and fellow human beings. Every student is encouraged to practice his/her own religious faith and be tolerant and respectful towards other religions.
Computer Centre - A state-of-the-art fully air-conditioned Computer Centre houses Dell Power Edge Servers, Sun Servers, various latest software, etc. The campus-wide network has been established with a hi-speed fiber optic backbone. It has 45 Mbps Internet connectivity, a round-the-clock Internet connection, and totally WI-FI 'n' enabled Campus and E-learning facilities.
CSS - Department of Communication and Soft Skills has established a Career Development Laboratory and a 6-Semester Integrated Skills Program for Students in the first three years of the B.Tech Course. Skills in Communication, Logical and Analytical Domains beyond just theoretical knowledge are adequately addressed by CSS Curriculum specifically designed and implemented at KLU. The Methods employed in Career Development Laboratory are interactive in nature and are well-tested group activities involving between 5-to-10 Students. A session of two hours integrates two-to-four skills and Instructors use Handouts and Audio-Visual Aids like Over Head Projectors, Computer Courseware etc. Periodic English Proficiency Tests (EPT) are conducted to measure the progress made by students in all these areas.
Industry Relations Department - The Industry Relations and Placements department was formed to realize K.L.U.'s vision of making an outstanding contribution to society in general and Industry in particular by facilitating the creation of knowledge-driven, highly skilled young professionals, by incorporating great values, work ethics and leadership skills in them. To effectively maintain close liaison with Industry, "Extension Cell" at Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore have been set up and personnel having wide Industrial and Corporate experience are appointed, The Institute is a member of the Confederation of India Industry (CII) and The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).
Research - The research strength of the Institute covers diverse disciplines. There are 78 faculty members with Ph.D., and another 150+ are pursuing Ph.D. It has secured sponsorship for research projects from various governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Transportation - The institution runs 40 buses covering all the important points in Vijayawada City, Mangalagiri, Guntur & Tenali towns. Transport is available 24 hrs in case of any emergency in the institute/hostels. Transportation is also available for conducting industrial tours and visits etc. A regular transport facility is available up to 9 pm.
Sports - There is a state-of-the-art Indoor stadium of 30000 sq.ft with 4 wooden Shuttle Courts/ Basketball Court, Yoga and Meditation Centre, 8 Table Tennis Tables, Hobby Centre, Gymnasium for Girls, Gymnasium for Boys, Multi-purpose room with chess Caroms etc.
Cafeteria - KL university has a spacious canteen with the latest equipment and a hygienic environment that provides quality food and prompt service and caters to the needs of all the students and staff.
Open Air Theatre - The college has an open-air auditorium, with a seating capacity of 3500 for conducting various cultural activities throughout the year.
Health Centre - A full-fledged health center with all the facilities is established to cater to the needs of the students, staff, faculty, and to the general public in the adopted villages. It consists of three doctors (Homoeopathy, Ayurvedic & Allopathy). A vehicle is provided for the purpose of emergency. KLU is having an MOU with a multi-specialty hospital.

Counseling & Career Guidance - A special Counselling Cell consisting of professional student counselors, psychologists, and senior professors who counsel/ helps the students in preparing themselves to cope with studies, and perform well in the tests & various competitions. This Cell provides its services to the students in getting the solutions for their personal problems and also provides career guidance with the help of the Industrial Relations and Placements (IRP) department.

Social Service Wing - KL University Social Service Wing is used to channel the social service activities of the faculty, staff and students. It has adopted 5 nearby villages and conducts activities like medical camps, and literacy camps and educates the villagers regarding hygiene and health care on a regular basis.
NSS Wing of Institute - It regularly organizes Blood donation camps, Blood grouping camps, Fund collection and distribution to poor children and old age homes, Distribution of old clothes and free medicines to slum area people, Tree plantations, AIDS awareness program, Teaching basic computer skills to a target group of 500 people in villages.
Hobby Clubs - Wholly and solely managed by the students, the Clubs have in the past contributed much to the cultural life of the campus and to the cultural evolution of the students, A number of student bodies and clubs operate in the campus like music society, dance club, drama society, literary and debating club, English press club, drawing club, Painting club, Mime club, Computer club, etc. Students manage the entire activities and budget of the organization for the entire semester in advance.
Technical Festival - The technical festival and project exhibition is being organized in the odd semester (October) ever year to elicit the innovative ideas and technical skills of the students.
Cultural Festival - The cultural festival in the even semester (February) every year is the best platform for the students for exhibiting their talents and creativity. Through these festivals, KLU is imparting organizational skills, leadership skills, competitive spirit, and team behavior skills to our students. Along with the knowledge, KLU festivals are providing recreation to the student community.
Convention Centers & Seminar Halls - The university has a number of Seminar Halls for staff and students separately with all the facilities.
International Conferences - KLU has a full-pledged convention center with 5 Air-conditioned halls of various capacities to conduct National/ International conferences.
