Small gadgets required for the research studies are also fabricated in USIC. Training programmes for university and college teachers on maintenance of instruments are conducted in collaboration with Western Instrumentation Centre (WRIC) Mumbai. Major Research project has been sanctioned by BRNS, DAE to the Centre. The Centre has also initiated R & D programmes and interaction with industry in collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai in the field of Radioisotope Applications in Industry for troubleshooting and process optimization.

Microtron Centre - A variable energy accelerator, Microtron, was installed and commissioned by Mangalore University in the year 1995 in collaboration with Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) Indore and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai for carrying out front line research studies in several important areas of radiation physics and interdisciplinary areas of science and technology. It is a unique facility with its versatile nature and provides energetic electrons of energy 8/12 MeV, intense bremsstrahlung photons of peak energy 8/12 MeV and neutrons of reasonably high flux. The facility is playing an important role in the coordinated research program involving various science departments of the university, sister universities, national laboratories and neighbouring institutions. The Department of Atomic Energy has recognized the Microtron Centre as a Centre for Excellence in Radiation Physics and Radiological Sciences. The Department of Science and Technology has helped the Centre to develop as a national facility by sponsoring a major research project to set up Microtron based neutron converter facility

Computer Centre - It houses powerful servers, which provide computational environment comprising of multiple operating systems. The systems has been configured such that, three servers - WINDOWS 2000, IBM AIX and LINUX can be accessed from any of the nodes attached to the servers across the campus. Cyber lab is operational from 1.1.2002 and houses thin clients and desktops. This facility is central facility and is available for students, research scholars and staff members of the University. Internet facility is available through VSAT(512 Kbps) which is installed under UGC-Infonet scheme for accessing internet with effect from 1.3.2004. This provides single hop access to internet gateway at ERNET hub. Further extra bandwidth of 2 Mbps is added to internet with effect from 1.8.2006.
