B.Sc or Bachelor of Science is an Under-Graduate degree course. The duration of the Bachelor of Science Course spans over a period of three years spanning six Semesters. The course is considered as a foundation course for students who want to make their career in the field of Science.

B.Sc subjects vary from college to college. However, most of the colleges restrict this to 5-6 subjects. This is made up of both core and elective subjects. Generally, there are 2-3 core BSc subjects, and the rest are electives for students to choose from.

Bachelor’s in science offers very specified knowledge about certain subject areas, usually in one of the three main science fields of Physics Chemistry, or Biology. It is also known as B.S, B.Sc (General), and B.Sc (Pass Course). It is a General and Passes Course as it is not Subject Specific and one can choose several combinations of subjects, apart from 1-2 Compulsory Subjects. There are limited numbers of combinations of subjects one can opt for depending upon the availability of choices in various Institutes.

Bachelor of Science Degree Course is designed to develop graduates with the key practical skills and interdisciplinary knowledge. Students study an extensive range of courses and perform research in their choice of field.

A B.Sc course can be pursued as both a full-time or part-time course. Students can choose to pursue a General B.Sc or B.Sc (Honours). The course is most apt for students who have a strong interest and background in Science and Mathematics. The course is also beneficial for students who wish to pursue multi and inter-disciplinary science careers in the future.

A B.Sc program can be further classified into two categories- B.Sc Honours and B.Sc General or Pass. The former focuses on one major subject area. The curriculum is designed to keep more focus on the Honours subject, and also includes subjects or papers from the elective subjects students opt for. The purpose of studying B.Sc Honours program is to inculcate theoretical, practical, and research skills among students.

On the other hand, the B.Sc General program provides basic knowledge of the major Science subjects to the students. The curriculum is slightly lesser rigorous, but it includes both the theoretical and practical components.
