Sociology is a branch of the social sciences. It uses systematic methods of experiment, observation and critical analysis to develop and refine a body of knowledge about human social structure and activity. Its subject matter ranges from society and the individual in perspective of Society. Sociology is a broad discipline in terms of both methodology and subject matter. It is focused on social relations, social stratification, social interaction, culture and deviance, and its approaches have included both qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
A person who has earned advanced degrees or pursued other advanced studies in sociology and is engaged in teaching, research or other professional work in the field of sociology is known as Sociologist.
