KSET 2025 - Karnataka State Eligibility Test for Lectureship acronym as KSET is conducted by the University of Mysore in the state of Karnataka for determining eligibility for Lecturership in various Universities, Colleges, and Institutions of Higher education in Karnataka State only.

However, those candidates, who have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in compliance with the "University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedures for the award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of K-SET for recruitment and appointment of Lecturers or equivalent position in Universities / Colleges / Institutions".

KSET 2025 Eligibility

Educational Qualification

  • Aspiring candidates must have a Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from an institution recognized by U.G.C. with at least 55% (50% Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category) marks. AND
  • Candidates who have appeared or are appearing at the qualifying Master's Degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test.
  • However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for the award of Lectureship eligibility only after they have passed their Master's Degree examination or equivalent with the prescribed eligible % of marks

Important: Such candidates must complete their Master's Degree examination within two years from the date of K-SET result with the required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

The Ph.D. Degree holders whose Master's level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5 % in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55 to 50%) for appearing for K-SET. However, Candidates shall appear to the K-SET on the subject of their post-graduation only.

Note: Candidates possessing post-graduate diploma/certificate courses, should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their courses with a Master's Degree in a recognized Indian university from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi

 

KSET 2025 Syllabus

KSET will consist of questions from the relevant subjects on the pattern of the UGC-NET.

Syllabus for Paper-I

  • Paper-I will be designed to test the reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate.
  • Sixty (60) multiple-choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50) questions.
  • In the event of a candidate attempting more than fifty (50) questions, the first fifty (50) questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.

Syllabus for Paper-II

  • Paper-II shall consist of questions based on the subject selected by the candidate.
  • Each paper will consist of a Test Booklet containing 50 compulsory objective-type questions of two marks each.

Syllabus for Paper-III

  • Paper-III shall consist of questions based on the subjects selected by the candidate.
  • As per the revised guidelines effective from June 2010 by the UGC, New Delhi.

 

KSET 2025 Pattern

K-SET exam consists of two sessions containing three papers i.e., Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III which will be evaluated only if a candidate secures minimum prescribed marks in Paper-I and Paper-II.

Important

  • For visually handicapped (VH) candidates 30 minutes extra time will be provided separately for Paper-I and Paper-II.
  • For Paper-III, 45 minutes of extra time shall be provided.
  • VH candidates will also be provided with the services of a scribe who would be a graduate in a subject other than that of the candidate on a written request at least 15 days before the date of examination to the Nodal officer of the respective test center opted by the candidate.

Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates who are not in a position to write in their own handwriting can also avail of these services. However extra time and facility for scribes would not be provided to other Physically Handicapped candidates.
