Drug Inspector Eligibility 

Educational Qualification

To be eligible for becoming a Drug Inspector for most qualification is Bachelor degree in Pharmacy. For joining B. Pharmacy or equivalent course one should be 10+2 Class pass with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) as main subjects.

Drug Inspector Required Skills

  • Drug Inspector should have been disciplined have patience, commitment to excel in their respective field and self-confidence.
  • They should have the flair to deal with various combinations of salts so as to know the efficiency and utility of the combinations for well being of human beings.
  • Candidates should also possess the capacity of performing tests to evaluate the potential compatibility of various salts.
  • They must be up to date with the occurring in the field of pharmaceutical and other related technologies.

 

How to become a Drug Inspector?  

One has to follow the following given steps to become a Drug Inspector

Step 1

Interested candidate has to appear in an Entrance Tests conducted by the various state governments  (like HPTU SLCET by HP Government) and independent Pharmacy institutes for providing admission to B.Pharma or D.Pharma courses.

The exam is objective type and tests you rigorously in subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Since negative marking is the rule here, the test is extremely competitive.

A separate test is conducted by some of the highly rated medical institutions. These exams are generally held in the month of May-June and consist of Objective type questions on the subject of English, Physics, Chemistry; Biology through a number of questions and pattern may vary from test to test.

The results of these exams are generally out by June/July.

Step 2

After completing this 4 years degree course candidates can opt for the M.Pharmacy course. Again one has to take entrance exam like GPAT to get into some good institute for Master’s in pharmacy to do specialization in one of the specific branches of study.

Step 3

After completing two years of M.Pharmacy course the aspiring candidates can sit for an Entrance Exam conducted by UPSC, Staff Selection Commission or various state service selection boards (although eligibility condition for taking these exams is Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or related field) to be selected as a Drug Inspector in State Government enterprises.

Those who are not inclined to join Government Service can also apply against the vacancies in the Pharmaceutical companies as Drug Inspectors.

 

Drug Inspector Job Description

  • To assist in the valuation of safety, efficacy and quality of Drugs as per requirement of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
  • To carry out field duty in assisting superior/Drugs Inspectors in taking out samples, enforcement activities like raids/inspections and launching prosecution etc.
  • To assist CDSCO officers in tatters of monitoring documentation.
  • To carry out duties as may be assigned under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules framed thereunder

PThe pharmaceutical industry in India has grown at a very fast rate in the recent past. In fact, it is the most developed industry of the country and is the third largest in the world. Drug Inspector Salary   

In the government sector, the Salary of Drug Inspector comes in the pay scale of Rs.9300-34800 with Grade Pay of Rs. 4200/-. However, it may vary from state to state. As far as the private sector is concerned a Drug Inspector can expect anywhere between Rs.30,000 to Rs.40,000 to start with depending upon the competence of the individual.
