About Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham - Bengaluru Campus
Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore started in 2002 as "Amrita Institute of Technology & Science" with a vision to produce quality engineers with service attitude for the benefit of the society and nation. The school was conceived of as the grooming ground for future engineering professionals of India. Initially it had only three branches: Computer Science, Electronics & Communication and Information Technology. It was then affiliated to the Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgum.
From 2004 it is under Amrita Vishwa Vidya Peetham, University under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956. This has brought flexibility and independence in curricula and programs. At present, the Bangalore campus offers six undergraduate programmes and one M.Tech program. The programs are based on credit system with an emphasis on continuous evaluation of students for best utilization of their efforts and time. The faculty has a close interaction with students by posting class advisors and mentors from among the faculty.
The faculty strength is presently 144, which includes those with long experience from premier institutes and Industry in India and abroad, especially from the US. Highly qualified and technically experienced faculty members, state of the art facilities, and the rich industry-academia interaction make engineering education at Amrita a unique and enriching experience.
Location and Transport
The sprawling Campus of the Institute is located just of the fully developed area of koramangala and HSR Layout, Sarjapura Road, about 14 kms from Vidhana Soudha and 17 kms from Majestic Bus Terminus.
The picturesque campus more than 25 acres is well connected by route, with BMTC buses plying right upto the institute's gate from city center places like Majestic & City Market. The Institute can also be accessed from Hosur Road about 5 kms before the Electronic City. Any bus towards sarjapura will take students to Kaikondanahalli, one stop before Wipro's Corporate office.
Railway station - The campus is located about 17 kilometers from City Railway Station, Majestic Bus Terminus.The Campus is located in Bangalore south on a road connecting Sarjapur Road and Hosur Road about 2 kilometers from Kaikondranahalli busstop on Sarjapur Road.
Bus Routes - Road - 342 F ( From Majestic ), 342 A, 342 B, 342 C, 342 D ( From City Market ) - Passes through Kaikondranahalli. 341 B from City Market also passes through the college campus.
Airport - The new Airport of Bangalore is in the outskirts of the city, Devanahalli. Special Buses are available for connecting the Airport with the major centers like Majestic and City Market .

Facilities and Campus
Hostels - Separate hostel facilities are provided for girls and boys. Students are provided with adequate facilities to make them feel at home. Their stay in the hostel enables them to imbibe a different life-style and involve in activities including yoga, meditation, sports, music, etc., suiting individual tastes and preferences. A dispensary with a qualified doctor on-call twenty four hours a day is available.
Library - The Library of the Amrita School of Engineering which was established in the year 2002, serves as knowledge hub containing resources not only in the form of print but also in e-resources.The library occupy over 731.15 square meter and provide students with access to a vast repository of resources, including books and periodicals.Library is providing automated services in all sections of the Library using LIbSOFT Software. Database of the Library is updated regularly and Readers can search the documents using Web-OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue).The library houses Text books, Reference Books, Print & e-journals and magazines, News papers, CD’s, Course Material etc., We take pride in saying that we have very good collection of National and International books. Added to this, we have a wide collection of general books which help to increase the knowledge of our students in different fields.
Computing facility - The campus has a 2.8 Mbps internet connectivity which includes one 2 Mbps leased line, one 512 Kbps and one 256 Kbps broad band and one 128 Kbps ISDN connections. All staff computers are provided with internet facility. There is an exclusive internet lab for students with 50 nodes of computers.
Designing, setting up and maintenance of all computer laboratories are done by the ICTS department. ICTS identifies all the software requirements for various computer labs and install them. The upkeep of all computers is also done by the department. The minimum configuration of the computer starts with Pentium IV. Currently the campus has a total number of 535 computers.
Training & Placement Cell - The cell aims at developing the overall personality and competency of the students. In tune with the emerging needs of various leading employers, Training & Placement Cell organizes training programmes for students to ensure excellent performance in the highly competitive recruitment processes. Priority is given to Soft Skills and Aptitude training. Weaker students are given utmost care and special training program is exclusively organized for such students. Besides organization of placement training programmes, the Training & Placement Cell also takes care of the following activities to ensure successful placement of every student aspiring for placement. Reputed organisations like Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Patni, L&T, Caterpillar, Accenture, Verizon etc. are regulars during campus recruitment.
Computer hardware training - A Computer Hardware Practical session is offered by the ICTS department as part of the engineering curricula. At the end of the course the students are assessed by assignments, Viva etc.
Networking / Java courses under CISCO - Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore has teamed with CISCO Systems, Inc., to become a Local CISCO Networking Academy . Upon successful completion of the course and a final examination, the candidate becomes certified as a CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
Research - A sponsored research project from Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE),A DST – SERC power quality research project titled "Development of a three-phase hybrid filtering system with digital control" is about to start, for which the cost Rs. 17 lakhs is sanctioned by DST and Rs.7.1 lakhs is sponsored by our University. The duration of the project is three years.
E-learning Studio - This hall houses the E learning studio. It is a multi cast digital communication system powered by the satellite INSAT-3E. This is an outcome of the initiative between Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and ISRO. The primary objective of the studio is to conduct E-Learning lectures and distance education programs. Whenever any conference, workshop or distinguished lectures are conducted in any of the campuses, the same can be viewed by the students and faculty of any of the other campuses in an interactive manner. This center is also used as digital class rooms for the visually oriented classes including cultural education. It has a seating capacity of 132. ICTS is responsible for the procuring of electronic items, stock report and the slot scheduling for the effective use of the studio and complete technical backup of audio video streaming, and UPS.
Seminar Hall - Seminar hall has a seating capacity of 152. It has an “Interactive digital class” with Audio Video facilities. This is used for conducting seminars, Project presentations, regular classes and placement activities
Conference Hall - The conference hall has a seating capacity of 27. It is for conducting board meetings, executive committee and departmental meetings. The hall is equipped with an industrial standard conference system.
INDO-US Studio - Indo - US initiative is a collaborative program between Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and top US universities for knowledge transfer in the field of emerging technologies. This Studio is used primarily as lecture hall for the Dual MS-Degree program offered by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in collaboration with Sunny Buffalo and other top US universities. ICTS was responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of this studio project. The studio is completely networked by wireless technology. The maintenance and trouble shooting of IT enabled services are also done by ICTS group.
Public Address System - The Academic Blocks are connected with a centralized PA (Public Address System) which is used for general announcement, Prayer etc. There is an automated and programmable bell system which helps to maintain the routine time table of the Academic system.
Sports - The campus has facilities for outdoor and indoor games like Shuttle badminton, Ball badminton, Cricket, Football, Table tennis, Weight lifting, Basketball and Volleyball. A multi-gym consisting of bodybuilding equipments is also provided for practice. Students are given opportunities to participate in various tournaments. An annual sports and athletic meet is held.
Banking & ATM - An extension counter of The Dhanalakshmi Bank is functioning inside the campus on all working days. Students can make use of the personal banking facilities at the extension counter. The bank also provides a 24hour ATM facility.
Transportation - College buses pick up and drop day- scholars from specified locations in Bangalore city and enroute, on payment of a nominal fee.
Store - The General store caters to the stationery and other requirements like domestic goods, provisions, etc. The store also stocks our math publications, audio/ video cassettes, herbal/ayurvedic products, etc. produced by the Math
Cafe - Hygienic vegetarian food is been served through Amrita Cafeteria on payable basis. North Indian dishes and ‘chatts’ are also been accommodated in the menu
Medical - A clinic is functional inside the campus with a Doctor and a Nurse. The clinic facility is opened for the local villages also.
Prayer Hall - A serene prayer hall is also available in the campus. Students are encouraged to participate in the prayers on voluntary basis.
Saloon - A well equipped saloon is also functional in the campus.
Power Station - An exclusive power station with sound proof generator room is also functional in the campus.
Extra Curricular Activities - Student extra-curricular activities at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Bangalore Campus) are organized into five student clubs
CHETANA : The sports club
SANSKRITI: This club provides a forum for students to cultivate their talents in the fine arts, with emphasis on Indian classical music and dance.
MAARDHANI : The literary and debating club organizes events that promote a healthy discussion and debate among thinking minds.
PRACHODANA: The technical club organizes quizzes and technical competitions to enable our students to compete with the best in the nation.
PRERANA : This club provides a forum for the holistic growth of students by tapping the creativity, talent and energy of students, and directing them towards noble and meaningful endeavors.
Club activities take place every week in the campus during the Wednesday afternoons.
Festival - Apart from this the clubs jointly hold the Cultural fest, Amritakalanjali, during the even semesters
