About Barkatullah University - BU

Barkatullah University also known as Bhopal University is a university in Bhopal, India. Originally, it was named after the great freedom fighter, Prof. Barkatullah, who was born in the area. It provides degrees to most of the non-technical colleges in and around Bhopal; funded by the state government. The University has a residential campus and it also serves as affiliating university for colleges of seven other districts. Barkatullah University has been accredited as a B category university by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Location - The University campus, which is spread over an area of approx. 360 acres of land, is located along Jabalpur-Jaipur National Highway (NH-12) at a distance of about 3 kms. from the Habibganj Railway Station.

Barkatullah University Facilities

Hostel Facilities - There are three boys and a girl's hostel which are situated at the campus.  Application forms for admission to hostel are available.

Library Facilities - The University has well established library comprising of nearly 75000 books, 5703 thesis, 3000 Researh magazine and 60 Sankrit MSS. The Library subscribes 15 daily news and 12 weeklies, several monthly magazines and some journals. The library has good collection of rare reference and text books.

Computer Centre - The Centre is equipped with AST Manhattan Server, IBM RS6000 Unix Server, Motorola 68030 machines and a number of intelligent nodes under LAN environment. The centre is providing facility for computation and data processing to the university and teaching departments.

NSS - It is based on voluntary social service and aims at personality development through community service. NSS volunteers undertake activities like literacy-drive, health care and immunization, environment improvement projects, tree-plantation, contribution to NSS Book-Bank, etc.

Minority Cell - There is a minority coaching and guidance cell which provides coaching facilities to the students of minority communities for various competitive examinations.
