Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology - NIT Bhopal, it is also known as National Institute of Technology, Bhopal (NIT Bhopal). Earlier it was known as Maulana Azad College of Technology (MACT), an Institute of National Importance under the NIT Act situated in Bhopal. It is part of the group of publicly funded institutions in India known as National Institute of Technology. Historically, MANIT was started in 1960 as Maulana College of Technology, named after the first Minister of Education, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. MACT started functioning in 1960 at Govt S.V. Polytechnic. It was one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges. The Government of India, Ministry of Human Resources Development, New Delhi, upgraded the status of Deemed University with effect from 26th June 2002. The Institute became an Intstute of national Importance by the parliament act in the year 2007. The institute is situated in the middle of Bhopal city with 650 acres campus.

Library Facilities - MANIT Library is a functional unit of the Institute and executes all its activities under the overall administrative control of the respective authority. The library is equipped with a lot of facilities. It has a good collection of books, SC ST & General Book Bank, CDs, videos, current periodicals, newspapers and back vol. of Journals.

Auditorium - The Institute has a well built auditorium. Earlier it was Students Activity Centre (SAC) which has been renovated and is now known as Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Auditorium. It has a capacity of around 800 people with a fantastic Hi-Tech sound system, fully air-conditioned.
Sports Facilities - The Institute has good sporting facilities for all round development of students and provides a means of recreation and relaxation for body and mind.
