Madhya Pradesh Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur was established under the Madhya Pradesh Act No. 16 of 2009, the Madhya Pradesh Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, 2009 and established on 3rd November, 2009. The University provides education in different branches of veterinary and fisheries and allied sciences. And it also determined to undertake the extension of these sciences to the rural people in co-operation with the government departments concerned.
Historically, the University was the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jabalpur which was inaugurated on July 8, 1948 as Central Provinces and Berar Veterinary College by Shri Jairamdas Daulatram.

Library Facilities - The University has a good collection of reading materials in the form of books, journals, bulletins, CD Rom databases.
Hostel Facilities - The University has boy’s and girl’s hostel.
Sports Facilities - The University offers good sport facilities such as table tennis, volley ball, badminton, carom, basket ball, football, cricket kits and chess were provided to the students.
Research Cell - There is an Agricultural Research Information System (ARIS) Cell in the University. It offers services like Internet accessing facility, printing, scanning and statistical data analysis.
Clinic Facilities - The University has a Teaching Veterinary Clinical Service Complex (TVCSC). It is well equipped with diagnostic and therapeutic including modern investigation laboratory. The clinic has D.I. Lab, sonography room, I.C.C.U. room, vaccination room and O.P.D.’s.
Livestock Farm - The Univeristy has a composite livestock farm at Adhartal opposite the Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Viswa Vidyalaya. This is spread over an area of 65 acres. It has a dairy, poultry, piggery, fishery, fodder and vermin compost unit.
Cultural Activities - There are extra-curricular activities that enrich cultural, physical, mental and social life of the students. The students regularly participate in various events such as debate, extempore, folk dance, folk song, skit, mime, classical songs, instruments playing etc.
