Swami Vivekanand University, (SVNU) Sagar, is a Private, Multi-disciplinary University. SVNU is managed by Prakhar Pragya Shiksha Prasar Avam Samaj Kalayn Samiti, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. The Samiti has been promoting value based quality education since July, 1994. The society through its SVN Group established Degree College at Amarmahu (Shahgarh) and colleges at Sagar, Panna, Shahdol Narsinghpur, Chattarpur and Bundelkhand. Then in 2012, SVN Group established its first Private University in the state at Sagar. The University has been established under the Madhya Pradesh Niji Vishwavidyalaya (Sthapana Avam Sanchalan) Tritiya Sanshodhan Adhiniyam, 2011, dated 31st December 2011. It is spread over about 65 acres lush green land situated in pollution free, healthy and natural environment. The university offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines like engineering, law, education, pharmacy, commerce, arts and science.

It is located at a distance of 5 km from Sagar city on Jhansi-Lakhandon highway (NH-26) and 12 km from Dhana air strip.
Facilities at SVNU
Hostels – Separate hostel facilities for girls and boys is provided to the students. The hostel is equipped with eco-friendly solar water heating system, a large dining hall and computer facility.
Library – The Central Library is housed in a separate building. It has a collection of about 25,000 Books, Journals and Educational CDs. The Central library currently subscribes to around 1,000 scholarly journals in sciences, engineering and humanities. The library is fully computerized and is connected with DELNET, a network of about 550 Libraries in India housing around 30 lakh books and journals. Additionally, there are smaller libraries in each department, which house books borrowed from the main library for quick reference. The collection comprises printed documents such as books, reports, theses, standards, atlases, patents and journal back volumes. The non-book collections include material like micro film, audio and video cassettes. It has a separate collection of prescribed textbooks under 'Book Bank' for the exclusive use of students. Under the INDEST consortium, the library provides on-line access to a large number of full-text journal databases from various publishers. These e-journals are accessible on intranet to campus users only. The library also facilitates Internet services and video screening.
Laboratories – There are various laboratories in the University. Some of these are chemistry laboratory, physics laboratory, communication laboratory, electrical laboratory, network laboratory etc.
Computing Facilities – The computer laboratories are equipped with PCs connected through a LAN with High End IBM Server and 4 MBPS Lease Line with Internet through BSNL lease line.
Special Personality Development Programmes - The University has created Students' Societies in which students organize different activities like quizzes, seminars, cultural functions, sports and fetes on their own.
Counselling - Counselling of the students is done in small batches and regular information is provided to parents about the performance of the students and corrective steps taken thereof.
Power Generator – The university has uninterrupted power supply for 24 hrs through its own power generator.
Sports and Games – The University has open play grounds for outdoor sports like - athletics, football, hockey, cricket, basketball courts, squash, tennis courts etc. It also has facilities for indoor sports facilities including gymnasium, table tennis and meditation and yoga centre.
