BSc Home Science or Bachelor of Science in Home Science is an Under-Graduate Home Science professional course. Home Science is the study of many sciences involving nutrition, health, and growth measurements, as well as science dealing with the surroundings and environment. The Bachelor of Science degree program consists mostly of the study of important Home Science themes such as Food Science, Fundamentals of Resource Management, Foundations of Human Development, Introduction to Fabric and Apparel Science, Foundations of Food and Nutrition, and so on.

In other words, a Bachelor of Science in Home Science is a degree program that includes courses in chemistry, physics, physiology, biology, hygiene, economics, rural development, child development, sociology and family relations, community living, art, food, nutrition, clothing, textiles, and home management. The Home Science course lasts three years, and the material is divided into six semesters.

  • Aspiring candidates should have passed their 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream from a recognized Board.
  • Some reputed colleges and institutes demand Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as subjects studied at the 10+2 level.
  • Some of the very reputed colleges and institutes demand a minimum of 50% aggregate marks at their Intermediate level as qualifying criteria to secure admission in this degree course and also conduct entrance examinations to get admission to their Bachelor of Science (Home Science) degree course.
  • Selection to the degree course in these colleges is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e., total marks aggregated in the final exams of 10+2 and the entrance exam.
