Child development refers to the biological and psychological and emotional changes that occur in human beings between birth and the end of adolescence, as the individual progresses from dependency to increasing autonomy. And that of family relations is rarely used when referring to a relative in one's immediate family where there is a more specific term to describe the relationship (e.g., one's parents, siblings and descendants).
