M.P.S. or Master of Population Studies is a postgraduate Public Relations course. The programme focuses on the processes or causal mechanisms underlying population change and on the historical, cultural and institutional context in which these processes originate and evolve. It comprises study of life events, such as birth, marriage, divorce, changes in health, migration and death. The programme focuses on demographic phenomena in Western and non-Western countries. Course includes instruction in population growth, spatial distribution, mortality and fertility factors, migration, dynamic population modelling, population estimation and projection, mathematical and statistical analysis of population data, population policy studies, and applications to problems in economics and government planning.
