Design is the process of creating or executing a work or plan in an artistic or highly skilled manner. A Design can be a shape, a configuration or a pattern. Master of Design is a Post Graduate Academic Degree, awarded for a course or a program in the field of Design. It is abbreviated as M.Des. or M.Design. which stands for Master of Design or Master in Design. M.Des course encourages design thinking and imparts a wider perspective towards the thoughts and ideas of tomorrow. Masters in Design course's curriculum lays emphasis on project work, a candidates undertakes a design project based on an aspect of his / her professional practice to date.

Duration - The duration of Masters Degree in Design is 2 years.

Eligibility

  • Masters Degree in Design requires a full time Graduate from a recognized University in any design discipline (Fashion / Textiles / Accessories / Graphics / Communication) or B.A. (Fine Arts), B.Sc. (Textiles & Clothing), B.Tech (Textiles) or Design Diploma from NIFT / NID.
  • CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) is an all India examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT, Bombay), on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Department of Education, Government of India. The examination tests the candidates for visual perception ability, drawing skills, design aptitude and communication skills. CEED is a qualifying examination for admission to Post Graduate M.Des. programmes at the Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay; IDDC, IIT Delhi; CPMD, IISc Bangalore; design Programme, IIT Kanpur.
  • The candidates who have qualified through CEED are also supposed to appear for an admission test and interview.
