Master of Veterinary Science is a Postgraduate Academic Master Degree which is awarded for a course or program in Veterinary Science. It is also known as M.V.Sc. which is an abbreviated form of Masters Degree in Veterinary Science. The duration of this Veterinary Science Degree is 2 years. Veterinary Council of India is a statutory body established under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of India. It lays down minimum standards of veterinary education required for granting recognized veterinary qualifications by veterinary institutions. The course syllabus of M.V.Sc. is more research oriented and includes more practical training modules than B.VSc. There are various veterinary medicine schools and colleges in almost all states which offer Post Graduate Veterinary Science Degree. M.VSc. course is based on one's chosen field of specialisation. There are several Universities which offer omnibus M.Sc degree courses in Animal Sciences, e.g., Bharathiar University, Hyderabad University (Life Science – Animal Science), MJP Rohilkhand University (Plant and Animal Sciences). There are also Veterinary Science colleges which offering M.VSc. courses in dairy related subjects.

Eligibility

Candidates who have completed their B.V.Sc & AHB from a recognized by Veterinary Council of India, are eligible for M.VSc. Admission is based on marks obtained in PG Entrance Examination. Minimum age limit for M.V.Sc. is 20-22 years. Some Institutes do not have an upper age limit while some keep the upper age limit to 35 years.
