Bharati Vidyapeeth University started officially functioning on 26th April, 1996 after receiving communication from the Government of India granting the status of 'University’ under section of the UGC Act, 1996 to a cluster of twelve institutions of Bharati Vidyapeeth. Bharati Vidyapeeth, which is the parent body of Bharati Vidyapeeth University, is one of the largest networks of educational institutions in India. It was established by Dr. Patangrao Kadam in 1964 in Pune. There are 32 constituent units of this University, which include Colleges imparting education in Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurved, Homoeopathy, Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, Management, Architecture etc. One of the distinguishing features of Bharati Vidyapeeth University is that all health related disciplines such as Medical, Dental, Ayurved, Homoeopathic and Nursing are located in the same campus. The university also has an overseas campus at Dubai, U.A. E. Today Bharati Vidyapeeth University may be the largest multi disciplinary multi campus university of its kind in the country. Bharati Vidyapeeth University has introduced a large number of innovative degree and diploma programmes after considering demand for the same from the students. Bharati Vidyapeeth University invariably revises its course structures and syllabi periodically. There are more than 400 students from 36 countries are enrolled with various constituent units of the university.
University Campuses
1. New Delhi - It is situated in a prestigious locality of Pas chim Vihar on the new Rohtak Road . It is spread over 8 acres of land. This campus includes spacious, impressive and imposing buildings, accommodating our various institutions, and also hostels. Staff quarters and a large play ground. The entire campus is so well laid out and well maintained that it has become major landmark in the area. The College offers Bachelor's programme in Technology ( B.Tech. ) and is affiliated to to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.

3. Navi Mumbai - Bharati Vidyapeeth has two campuses in Navi Mumbai. Both these campuses are located in prime localities and are easily accessible. One is located in the Sector 7 of C.B.D. and another in Sector 8 of C.B.D.

4 . Sangli - There are 3 campuses in Sangli:
i) Wanlesswadi Campus - This campus is located on the Sangli-Miraj Road and is a sprawling 50 acre campus which houses the following colleges -
ii) Rajwada Chowk - Rajwada chowk in Sangli is one of the prestigious crossings and BVU has a very impressive building called Bharati Bhavan Sangli which houses the following colleges -

6. Solapur - BVAKIMS is located at the central part of Solapur city. The institute is spread over in an area of 11,500.54 sq.mtrs in lush green and pollution free area. The building of the institute is newly constructed with advanced facilities.
i) The institute has a separate Computer Lab with 120 seating capacity. There are PIV 120 computers for MBA section with 4 servers and 90 computers for MC section.
ii) The institute has a separate Internet Lab with all facilities including printing and copying. The students are allowed to access the internet throughout the day. The largest news circulating weekly taken the note of our institute’s reputation honoured it by mentioning its name in the Malayalam Manaorama Year book 1998 On page 336 as one of the top Business schools in the country well known for its quality in training.
iii) The library is the focal point of the institute and is well stocked with nearly 16 ,000 books and 65 national and international journals and Magazines related to the fields of Management, Computers and Humanities. The library has a specious reading room open to the students almost throughout the day. Reprographic services are also available.

9. Kadegaon - The Kadegaon Campus has the BVS - Shreemati Bayabai Shreepatrao Kadam Kanya Mahavidyalaya Kadegaon. There is also a Girls Hostel in the campus.
Location - It it is situated about 160 km. south of Mumbai. The main University Office is located in the ten storey building of Bharati Vidyapeeth, known as Bharati Vidyapeeth Bhavan, which is situated on the banks of the river Mutha in the Deccan Gymkhana area. Transportation - Pune is well connected by rail, road and air to the major cities in India. It takes about 3 hours to reach Pune from Mumbai by the new super express highway. One can take a private taxi or bus or a government bus to reach here. A train journey from Mumbai to Pune also takes about 4 hours. Pune is connected by air to Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad and quite a few other cities in India.
Facilities
Hostels - Quite a few of the constituent units of Bharati Vidyapeeth, run Boys' and Ladies' Hostels for their students. In Pune alone hostel facility is provided to more than 1,800 girl students and 600 boys. The hostel facilities of some of the schools are excellent. The Hostels in the residential public school at Panchgani are equipped with all the modern amenities and facilities. Bharati Vidyapeeth also runs a hostel for 300 rural girls at Kadegaon (Dist. Sangli) The hostel facility is provided to 150 girl students in our Delhi Campus. Mess and Canteen facilities are provided in various institutions.
Library - It has 3,00,000 books, 501 International Journals and 1144 National Journals available in the libraries of constituent units of BVU. In 2008-09 we have added 38,370 books by investing Rs.1,13,07,782.
Distance Learning - The School of Distance Education of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University has established 9 academic study centres, which are completely self owned institutions and are provided with excellent teaching faculty. These academic study centres vibrantly function as an interface between the university and the students. All the infrastructural facilities such as arrangement for subject specific and general academic counselling by the trained teaching faculty, facilities for conduct of computer related practicals, conduct of assignments, tutorials sessions, seminars and university examinations are made diligently available at these academic study centres, and are actively monitored by the School of Distance Education.
Distance Education Academic Centres:
Research - In 2008-09, the University has had more than 500 researchers, engaged in various research projects. This year, 41 research projects have received handsome grant of Rs..4,25,23,145 from authorities such as All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Department of Technical Education, Department of Biotechnolgy (DBT) of Union Government, CSIR, UGC, AYUSH etc. Total 145 research papers have been published in various globally recognized journals and publications. Our research scholars have actively participated in 191 national and international conferences.
Hospital Facilities - The health related services are becoming increasingly too expensive to be within the paying capacity of a common man. The costs of hospitalization, operations and treatment in the private hospitals are abnormally prohibitive, so are the prices of drugs. Realizing these difficulties, which the common man faces, Dr. Kadam has established Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical Foundation and Research Centre with the help of which the following three hospitals in Pune are run and various health care related activities are undertaken.
Bank Facilities - During the early period of Bharati Vidyapeeth, its Founder needed some finances for its developmental purpose. He approached a local leading bank, which showed little enthusiasm in loaning out any amount to this baby institution. This was a very challenging situation for him, with which he dealt successfully by establishing his own bank "Bharati Sahakari Bank" in 1971. In this task he got co-operation from his colleagues who had tremendous faith in his abilities.
Gymnasium Facilities - The college has a well-equipped Gymkhana . The students in the college are provided with all the sports equipment. Our students have emerged with flying colours in various sports activities at College, University, State and National levels.
International Students Education - The university has students from more than 30 countries including Bahrain, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Canada, Dubai, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Iran, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Nepal, Oman, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, UK, USA, Yemen and many others. Extra Curricular Activities - BVU also hosts various sports events that attract a large numbers of sports lovers from rural as well as urban level. In the year 2008-09, the university organized various sports events that covered 114 games. Total 3473 students, including 1052 female players participated in these events. In the events organized by other Universities and Institutions our students have won 47 Gold, 41 Silver and 12 Bronze medals. Various cultural and social drives are also promoted . In 2008-09, the students performed in 134 cultural events organized by the Universities and organizations. There were 116 solo and 430 team performances which earned warm appreciations and awards.
MOU and Industry Interaction - BVU has strong associations with various national and multinational companies, educational and research institutes. In academic year 2008-09, the University signed19 Memorandum of Understanding with various leading academic and research institutions and industries. This includes few prestigious projects such as MoU for formulation development with Indian Immunologicals Ltd., MoU for Herbal Drug Research with Indian Institute of Integrated Medicine, Jammu, MoU with Bradford University (UK) for Nutraceutical Research, MoU with SKF India Ltd for enhancement of the competence of students and faculty members. The students have been involved in almost 166 industrial visits and interactions this year which gave them real exposure to the industries. These activities also proved fruitful as students got opportunities to interacted and got guidance from eminent industry giants and skilled professionals. Such drives also help students to understand what the latest trends in professions are and what industries expect from upcoming professionals.
