About Mody University of Science and Technology - MUST

Mody Institute of Technology and Science is an institute exclusively for the women of tomorrow. Male candidates are admitted only to Ph. D. programmes. It is spread over an area of over 265 acres full of greenery with a wide variety of trees and other plants, especially developed for the purpose. 69 buildings cover an area of approximately 12 lacs sq. ft.  connected by approximately 10 km internal  roads, including huge academic and other buildings, hostels with spacious corridors, big terraces and luxurious rooms brushed with the fragrance of lush green gardens with sprawling lawns harbouring delightful trees and forming a picturesque setting. The whole campus has been beautifully landscaped with waterfalls, fountains, orchards, lawns, forests and a water body, literally transforming the Shekhawati belt of the Thar desert into an oasis.

Facilities

Hostels - The rooms are spacious, well furnished, self-contained and well maintained. They are airy and provide for a great view. The hostel also has the unique telecom facility for incoming calls only. They are provided with basic amenities like bed, table, chair, small cupboard and electrical fittings. There is 24-hour water supply also. A recreation hall with facilities for indoor games like chess, carom encourages students to make good use of their leisure time. One L.C.D. TV per hostel is also provided. Each hostel has GNM to take care of students including emergency medical needs.

Library - MITS has three separate enriched, well-stocked modern libraries for FET, FMS and FASCL to cater to the needs of all the streams being taught. The libraries have been using software namely "Alice for windows" with a package to automate the function and services. Both the libraries are member of Developing Library Network (DELNET). With this, the libraries can access the database of seven hundred thirty four national and international libraries. One can view 35,10,946 records, which include database of books,theses and dissertations and articles of various periodicals. DELNET also provides Inter Library Loan(ILL) facility for books and articles of periodicals at a fast pace.

Computer Labs - The Institute has first-rate Computer Laboratories i.e Artificial Intelligence, Operating System, Graphics Multimedia, Networking, Visual Studio Dot Net, Advanced Java, Database, Mobile Computing and Advance Computer Network . Each Laboratory is networked through an appropriate IBM server. The Centre is equipped with 24 Mbps leased-line-based Internet facility.

LMS - A sophisticated Learning Management System (LMS) has been implemented in FET that provides faculty and students a centralized set of tools to help automate various aspects of curricular and co-curricular activities. LMS has a structured shell for each course in which the concerned faculty places all course-related contents such as assignments, syllabi, lecture slides, etc. for access by students.  Moreover the students who are enrolled in the course can facilitate and participate in activities such as discussion forums and chats.  Faculty also conducts online activities such as online quiz and assignments.  Using the online grading system in LMS, faculty can assess students’ performance using this cutting-edge technology.

Summer Training - The institute provides best training facility to its students. The Institute encourages students to undergo training in industrial organizations with stipend and specific projects. As per prescribed course structure of B.A.LL.B. /B.Com.LL.B. /B.B.A.LL.B., internship – a practical training programme of 20 weeks during five years is compulsory for all students. It can be done with the courts, Advocates, NGOs, Administrative Authorities, Local-Self Governing Authorities Commissions, Tribunals, Legal Firms, C. As and Legal Departments of Public & Private Companies.

Electronics Labs - The existing Electronics and Communication based laboratories - Analogue Electronics Lab, Digital Electronics Lab, Microprocessors and Micro-controllers Lab, Communication System Lab, Microwave Lab, Signal Processing Lab, Power Electronic Lab, Computer Aided Design Lab, Digital Hardware Design Lab, VLSI Lab and  Electronics Workshop are well equipped to cater to the needs of UG and PG programme.

Electrical Machinery Lab - Electrical Machinery Lab is mainly dedicated for undergraduate programme which is one of the best machine laboratories in the country. This lab providing excellent facilities to carry out research work for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree, R&D work for sponsored and consultancy projects and testing and consultancy work for industrial problems. This lab is designed by LD System Germany who is pioneer in electrical machines since 150 years. In this laboratory students learn the concept of electrical machine with experimental verification of the theoretical concepts studied in the two courses, Electrical Machinery I and Electrical Machinery II. Major equipments include DC Motors, DC Generators, Synchronous Motor, Alternator, Transformer, Induction Motor universal motor etc.
    
Mechanical & Electrical Workshop - It is fully equipped workshop, labs and is managed by highly motivated and well-qualified faculty. The Workshop has a lathe machine, shaper machine, arc welding machine, drilling machines, an assortment of tools like files, punches, hammers etc.     

Physics & Chemistry Labs - The labs are fully equipped with highest quality equipment and trained assistants to help and assist the students in their learning process.

Research Collaborations - FET has collaborations with several companies and educational institutions; CEERI Pilani and Semiconductor complex Ltd Chandigarh are two of them. MITS encompasses a unique conceptual feature of ‘earn while learn’, and accordingly offers a stipend of Rs. 8000 p.m. to each of its M. Tech. students. Similarly Research Assistantship of Rs. 10,000 is provided for Ph. D. scholars in the areas of Engineering / Technology and Management and Teaching Assistantship of Rs. 6500 to the Ph. D. scholars in other disciplines. Special emphasis is laid on providing explicit in depth knowledge and practical skills.

Dining - The MITS family including authorities, the faculty members and the students all dine together to have a feeling of belongingness. The central dining hall, with a seating capacity of 1800 diners is equipped with its own bakery and provides well-planned, varied, balanced and appetizing vegetarian food prepared in strict hygienic conditions. The day starts with serving of snacks and milk (from our own dairy) early in the morning and ends with serving nourishing milk before going to bed. Not far behind from McDonalds, the Cafeteria relieves the students from the hectic schedule. Magnificent Cafeteria, reverberating by the lively music is a speciality of the Institute.

Security - MITS, being an institute for girls, has looked into the security aspect with a great deal of care. Professional security personnel guard the institute twenty four hours a day and their unflinching vigilance makes the campus thoroughly secure.To maintain the decorum of the institute every one has to follow some instructions, so that the security can be ensured. All the resident students are allowed to go out with proper gate passes, signed by either the warden or by the teachers of respective departments. Daily entry and exit record of everyone, the students as well as of the teachers is maintained at the gate. A list of four visitors with the photograph for every student is available with the security department and the visitors can visit the respective students after being matched with the photograph and name of the visitors’ card.

Industrial Tours - Industrial visits feature prominently on the agenda of MITS. Short trips and long excursions are organized to help students unwind and relax. In 2008-09, about 49 students of FET went on an industrial trip to Bangalore to visit ISRO and DRDO.

Placement Cell - The Institute has an active and centralized Training and Placement Cell (TPC) functioning throughout the year with commendable efficiency. TPC organizes periodic training to students resulting in the development of their personality, team spirit, systematic planning, etiquettes, inter-personal skills, time planning, etc. For the session 2007-08 IFB Industries, Jaipur Rugs Company Private Limited, ICFAI and Abacus visited MITS campus and selected 3, 3, 4 and 4 students respectively; companies like Aditya Birla Group, Deutsche Bank, Reliance Infocomm, Synergy Infosystems, Times of India, Hindustan Times, etc. are yet to come for the said batch of FMS.

Sports - The institute provides excellent sports facilities for indoor as well as outdoor games. All the play fields are of international standards. Sports arena spread over 7 acres of land with various athletics facilities.

Achievements

  • In a latest survey 89 species of birds (certified by ornithologist from World Wildlife Fund-Indis) and 16 species of butterflies (certified by lepidopterists from World Wildlife Fund -India) have been identified.
  • The campus has its own power house and captive sewage treatment plant. No ground water is lost and all irrigation is carried out with recycled water.
