Padmashree D.Y. Patil University is Deemed University. It was established in 2002 with a vision to provide quality education in all spheres of high learning and health services in India. It was established by Dr. D.Y. Patil, a Philanthropist and Educationist. For his pioneering contribution in the field of education, he was honoured with the title ‘Padmashree’ by the President of India. He has also been the Governor of Bihar. In 2009, NAAC accredited the University with A Grade. The University provides Undergraduate and Postgraduate education in a plethora of sectors ranging from Medicine, Dentistry, Ayurveda, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy to Management, Biotechnology, Engineering, Law, Architecture, Hotel Management, Catering & Tourism Studies and Education & Research.

Facilities
Hostels - The University campus has spacious hostels for students providing all the basic amenities.
Libraries – The spacious Central Library has a large number of titles and regularly subscribes to numerous national and international newspapers, journals and magazines of interest to the students. The college libraries lends technical books and journals both for reference and home reading. Apart from the college libraries, the University also has a Central Library.
Laboratories - The University has various laboratories and clinics, each dedicated to a particular area of specialization.
Canteen and Mess - The institute has few canteens, like the Nescafe outlet and the Mess in the hostel. There is also another canteen managed by the students of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Studies.
Auditorium - The 750 seat University auditorium is equipped to handle the needs of a progressive university and is available to all colleges and departments for conducting seminars, convocations and events
Computer Centre - The computer centres at the University have high-speed internet and Wi-Fi connections, and are accessible to all the students for online examinations.
Student Welfare and Cultural Affairs - The Student Welfare and Cultural Affairs Department is involved in organising various activities like – events and festivals. These are meant for recreation and provide a platform to express hidden talents. It also provides, guidance, counselling and addresses various grievances for promoting a healthy environment. Amongst various other activities, the Annual Festival namely, Rhapsody is organised by the department. It is also involved providing incentives to students with a record of participation in sports / cultural events at the Interstate level or national level.
