Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur is the first Ayurved University of Rajasthan and is the second University of it's kind in India. The Rajasthan Ayurveda University was established by RAU Act -2002 (Act No. 15 of 2002) which came into force w.e.f. may 24, 2003 vide Gazette Notification no. F25 (6) Ay. /2000 dated May 24,2003. This university has now affiliated all the 40 colleges/institutions of Ayurved, Unani, Homoeopathy, and about 6000 students are pursuing their UG, PG, Diploma and Doctoral Studies. This university is conducting the admission to its degree courses through Joint Entrance Test at National level/ State level.
The university has its own constituent college of Ayurved, constituent DAN & P training centre and Herbal farming centre. It is spread over 322 acres of land proposed to accommodate Central Administrative Block , 263 beded Hospital, Academic Block, Residential Quarters, Sports Complex, Herbal garden & Herbal farm etc. Although BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, MD (Ayu.), MD (Homoeo), Ph.D (Ayurveda) and certain Diploma courses are already being conducted through our affiliated colleges, academic activities like BAMS course have bee started in the University campus from Nov. 2004 by permission of central govt. and CCIM vide letter no. F.No. R.12011/028/2003-EP dated 14-10-2004 from deptt. of AYUSH, Govt. of India following the first CCIM visitation in 14-06-04. The university is now recognised under section 2/F from UGC by letter no. F9-30/2003 (CPI-I) dated 15/03/2004 & CCIM CCH etc.

Facilities
Hospital & Patient Care Services - At present Constituent Ayurved college has its own Hospital with OPD and IPD facilities at Jhalamand circle and within RAU main campus at Kadwad, Jodhpur. The specialized OPD services in Kayachikitsa, Panchkarma, Shalya-Shalakya, Stri-Prasuti, Bala Roga and Swastha Rakshan are available in this hospital by the faculty. Presently IPD Services are available with 100 beds in the campus. The university hospital has already developed Shalya-karmagar (O.T.) and Panchkarma-karmagar where a large number of patients are getting treatment every day. The proposed under construction 263-bedded hospital attached to the University College of Ayurved at the main campus at Kadwad is in three floors with a built up area of 17,857 sq. mt. Recently the OPD & IPD services of five specialities have been started here with a well equipped laboratory.
Panchkarma Section - All five types of Panchkarma therapy procedures are being done in chronic patients on routine basis in this section of the Hospital.This section is well equipped with necessary instruments and appliances. This section is providing training to govt. Ayurvedic Medical Officers and registered Ayurveda Practitioners under a three months Panchkarma Training program in the guidance of a trained faculty cum consultant physician.
Shalyakarm Karmagar (O.T.) - The Operation Theatre is initially serving as an Ano-rectal surgical theatre where a large number of patients get treated successfully with application of Ksharkarma and other para-surgical measures. All necessary equipments and trained Faculty/Manpower is available with this theatre.
Prasuti Karmagar (Labour Room) - In this section of hospital a modest labour room is arranged to facilitate labour. Here our skilled Doctors are providing Gynaecological,l Obstetric and Neonatal services. Our skilled doctors are also providing facilities of National programmes i.e. JSY, FW & FP, Immunization etc.
Herbarium & Drug Museum - A modest Herbarium and Drug Museum has been developed in the Dravya Guna department for demonstration & training of students of BAMS, Nursing and Herbal Farming Courses. About 100 specimens of dried herbs and 80 display boards of various medicinal plants have been prepared & displayed in this Museum. Efforts are being made to expand the herbarium.
Herbal Garden - The University College of Ayurved has developed a Herbal Garden in its city campus at Jhalamand circle with the activities of plantation and cultivation of more than 100 species of medicinal plants for demonstration with the help of students of diploma in Herbal Farming. Bilva, Amalaki, Nimba, Nimbuka, Ratanajyot, Kasamarda, Heena, Senna, Guggulu, Lajawanti, Jati, Shweta Musli, Haritaki etc. are amongst planted medicinal herbs in this Herbal Garden. All necessary tools and irrigation facilities are made available with this garden. 100 acres of land is earmarked for Herbal Garden and Herbal Farms at Kadwad. About 2,500 medicinal plants have been planted including 500 Guggulu plants for a Guggulu farm and around plants of Ghrit Kumari (Aloevera) for a Ghrit Kumari farm. There is enough scope of Herbal Garden and Herbal Farming in this university with gardeners on contract basis. Attempts will be made for scientific harvesting, storage and preparation of intermediaries for marketing as raw material as well as to use them in the University Pharmacy for manufacturing medicines.
Library - The university is developing its library in Kadwad campus by procuring more than 4500 books and journals. More than 25 periodicals and journals are regularly available in this library.
Anatomy Museum - A good Anatomy Museum has been developed in the deptt. of Anatomy of this University College of Ayurved as plenty of charts, models, specimens of bones, preserved human organs and skeleton are displayed with a view to accelerate the interest of learning Anatomy among students. Given emphasis on teaching of anatomy with applied and clinical point of view, Computer CDs and X-Ray plates have been made available to this museum so as to make the practical training more effective to the students.
Dissection Hall - A Dissection Hall has been developed in the Deptt. of Anatomy with facilities of deep freeze mortuary and other necessary facilities to preserve human dead bodies in order to impart practical training of Anatomy through dissection of cadavers. Other facilities include - Deep freezer, formaline tank, dissection tables, instruments etc. have been procured.
Laboratory - Two separate well equipped laboratories have been developed for practical training of Physiology and Pathology to the students and for investigation of patients. All necessary modern equipments have been provided to both these laboratories. All routine and microscopic laboratory examinations are being done by the students as part of their practicals under the supervision of faculty and trained technicians. Equipments like ECG, Semi Auto-analyzer etc. are provided in Pathology laboratory. Also Pathology laboratory is providing services of various investigations to the hospital patients regularly on nominal payment basis.
Hostel - Hostel facilities have been provided for girls & boys on merit basis. Girls hostel is running in city campus with mess & sports facilities while boys hostel is running at Kadwad campus with same facilities.
Pharmacy - The University has developed a modest pharmacy in its new campus. This pharmacy is initially manufacturing certain medicines to fulfil the requirements of attached Ayurved Hospital at some extent. Expansion process is also going on to enhance the productivity of the pharmacy.
Facilities For Indoor & Outdoor Games - RAU has organised successfully several Inter College tournament programmes like "Ayurplexus -2005" & Ayurvishwa-2007 at Jodhpur of all affiliated colleges of the state in session 2005-06 & 2006-07. In this session 2008-09 RAU is going to organise a sports and cultural fest ''AYURVISHWA-2009'' on 08-02-09 to 13-02-09.
