About NIIT University

NIIT University (NU) is a Not-for-profit, Private Deemed University sponsored by NIIT Limited. NIIT Limited is an Indian Multinational company that offers learning management and training delivery solutions to corporations, institutions and individuals. NIIT stands for National Institute of Information Technology and it was established in 1981 by Rajendra S. Pawar and Vijay K. Thadani, graduates from IIT, Delhi, with one million rupees. NIIT conceived a franchising model in IT education for the very first time, setting up nine centres by 1987. In 2008, NIIT set up NIIT University, a green campus spread over 100 acres in Neemrana, Rajasthan.

NU is unique in many ways; one uniqueness is that its campus is designed as a walking campus without motor vehicles. To make it possible for people to walk in the heat of Neemrana, a shaded and rain protected pedestrian spine linking all major areas in the University, is in development. Students will be able to walk to the academic buildings under shade and facilities will be located along the pedestrian spine, making sure that it remains active and safe all through the day. Motor vehicles will be parked in a parking lot near the entrance. Another unique feature is its amphitheatre which has been developed in a natural depression in the site. Another depression will be developed as the sports arena. A rooftop open air theatre has been built for enjoying sunsets, and perhaps, dreaming of new horizons.

Location - The 75-acre NIIT University campus is nestled in the Aravali range in Rajasthan, considered to be the oldest fold mountain range in the world

Facilities at NIIT University

Hostels - NIIT University at Neemrana is a walled campus with a single entry and 24-hour security. Each room positioned to provide a beautiful view of the surrounding Aravali Hills. A commercial space is within twenty metres of the hostel. The master plan of the University has a `spine’ that connects the hostel and academic areas. As of 2015, all academic programmes at NIIT University are 100% residential.

Some salient features of the student hostel are:

• Well-furnished, single and twin sharing accommodation and earth-air cooled hostel rooms, with laundry facility and free of charge house-keeping services for the room.
• Two common-rooms on each floor, suitably furnished. Each common room equipped with an LCD TV.
• One case-study room on each floor equipped with whiteboard, Internet connection, and access to the University’s Online Library and Learning Systems.
• One pantry with a microwave oven, on each floor.
• Healthy and hygienic dining facility.
• 24-hour medical facilities for emergencies and ailments at the health centre with four beds and a special ward. Basic medication is taken care of locally. NU facilitates hospitalization support in Gurgaon and Jaipur.
• 24-hour ‘Reverse Osmosis’ purified clean drinking water.
• 24-hour security with state-of-the-art technology support.
• A State Bank of India, ATM is operational on the campus.
• A separate floor of the post graduate hostel is reserved exclusively for girl students, with access-controlled entrance and exit. The dining facility is shared with male students.

Library - Library is open from morning till late evening and even till mid-night during examinations. Apart from books on technical subjects related to discipline and courses, it houses books of general interest, magazines and daily newspapers. Well equipped with more than 113 journals in print, both national and international, the library supports the research needs across varied disciplines. The library has also joined EBSCO which enables the students to access the journals online for finance and management. Library also facilitates purchase of text-books for students on the basis of individual requests received at the time of registration. Library can be browsed on the intranet from anywhere in the Campus. In order to avail the maximum utilization of the library resources, online public access catalogue (OPAC) is available on the intranet

Online Learning Portal - NU has a full-featured online learning portal, where students can access digital content uploaded by faculty, they can submit online assignments and take online quizzes.

Internet - NU has connected the whole campus by Wi-Fi intranet, including- the academic block, hostels and a significant part of open space.

Laboratories - Various laboratories provides the experimental facility to students for the courses they are studying

Green Campus - NIIT University Campus demonstrates that financial sustainability can go hand in hand with environmental sustainability. This is the integral binding force around which NIIT University has been created.

Go-Green Achievements

• NU students, engage in nature treks and adventure sports in the neighbouring Aravali. This organically brings them close to ‘mother-nature’ and in celebration of this relationship they launched a drive called ‘Shram-Daan’ in an effort to convert the neighbouring barren ‘Kali Pahari’ to ‘Hari Pahari’. This is a major achievement in building a culture of sustainability with the realization that it’s only by giving back to nature that ecological resurrection and thus, prosperity around us can be realized.
• Energy consumed per unit area of our buildings is considerably less than ‘Platinum-rated’ buildings equipped with Building Management System to help optimize energy efficiency.
• Over ten-thousand trees of various varieties have been planted on the neighbouring hills during the monsoons, 2011.
• Engagement with the local community in regeneration of local flora and fauna, including nurturing of medicinal/bio-diesel plants.
• NIIT University promotes water conservation amongst the resident population, by treatment and reuse of waste water. NU will not be drawing more than the annual rainfall recharge and ensuring 97% recycling.
• The environmental management plan for the site that includes prohibiting illegal extraction and mining of stone from the hill, and constructing more check dams to harvest rainwater and further, preventing soil erosion.
• Buildings have been built with high percentage of recycled materials.         

Sports - NU provides all the facilities of Outdoor as well as Indoor Sports. The resources are available for Indoor games like Table Tennis, Pool, Gymnasium, Carom and Chess, and for Outdoor games like Cricket, Soccer, Basketball etc. NU also encourages students in imbibing the spirit of adventure and camaraderie. Trekking up the nearby Aravali Ranges, Valley Crossing, Zip Line and camping out at night are some thrilling activities undertaken by the NU Sahas Adventure Club.

Cultural Activities - Students are provided with numerous opportunities to show case and enhance their talents through co-curricular activities like photography & movie making, music, dance, debating & elocution, theatre, techno-art and PC Gaming. Various fests and cultural events are also organized throughout the year, giving numerous opportunities to the individuals to exhibit their innate talents.

Incubation Centre - An Incubation Centre has been established to catapult successful R & D projects from the drawing board into commercialization via implementation as live projects, or for patenting, licensing and technology transfer. Twenty-five acres (25% of the total campus master plan) has been set aside for Incubation and allied activities.

Career Development Cell - The career development centre of NIIT University is a centralized body, headed by a full-time placement specialist. To facilitate career development, our placement specialist, works in coordination with senior faculty coordinators from within the University and student representatives from each domain of Engineering and Management studies. Various activities such as workshops on interview skills/ Resume building, mock interviews/ GDs and placement guidance, mentorship by faculty and practicing managers from the industry.
