Amity University, Mumbai (AUM) is a Private, Multidisciplinary University. It has been established under Maharashtra Govt. Act of 2014 of Government of Maharashtra and is recognized as per Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. The university has been established to provide learning, teaching, capacity capability, skill development, research and development in higher and technical education, covering various disciplines. Amity University follows a Semester System which is in conformity with the global practices and standards. The Course curriculum of one year is taught into two semesters i.e.,17-18 weeks each. The level of students' academic performance as the aggregate of continuous evaluation and end term examination is reflected by letter grades on a Ten Point Scale. Letter grades (A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, F) have points associated with them in quantified hierarchy and have qualitative meaning. Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) & Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) are calculated based on the students' performance in Semester(s), & overall respectively. The University follows Absolute Grading as well as Relative Grading depending upon the student strength in a particular programme and batch. Students are required to maintain minimum SGPA & CGPA to pass a semester/promote to the next semester and qualify for Degree/Diploma. At Amity, the students are assessed at regular intervals. 30% weightage is given to continuous/internal assessment in a semester wherein 3-4 evaluation components with weightages are defined. It covers Class Test, Viva, Quiz, Case Discussion / Presentation / Analysis, Home Assignment, Project, Seminar, Term Paper, Attendance etc. Amity has tie-ups with over 100 international Universities, Laboratories and Research Centres in areas of student exchange, faculty exchange, joint research, curriculum development and educational tours for students. With ‘air-conditioned’ academic block and 100 Mbps Wi-Fi, the campus facilitates students’ all-round growth. The campus is also well-connected by university-operated as well as public transport options from major nearby locations and just 10 km from Panvel station.

Amity University Mumbai campus is located on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway with a 1 KM long frontage, however one needs to reach the campus from Ajivali village, Old National Highway.

Facilities at Amity University, Mumbai

Hostels - AUM has two large hostels, one each for boys and girls within the premises. The accommodation is in Apartment Style with suites of bedrooms that share a common lounge and bathroom. Each bedroom provides double occupancy and so each apartment has 6 occupants. Other facilities include geysers in every bathroom, TV set in the common room, separate bed, mattress, pillow, pillow covers and sheets, cupboards and study table with chair.

Central Library – It has a good collection of books, digital database and online journals (E – Resource). It also subscribes to various national and international journals with hard and soft copies, magazines, national and regional newspapers in Hindi and English. The libraries are kept open from 9 AM to 9 PM for students and staff.

Scholarships – Amity University, Mumbai provides various scholarships to students.

Some of these are:

• 100% Scholarship - Eligibility - 93% aggregate and above (excluding Physical Education/ Fine Arts / Performing Arts / vocational / non written subjects) in CBSE / ISC / State Boards of Class XII and 80% in Graduation.
• 50% Scholarship - Eligibility - 88% aggregate and above (excluding Physical Education/ Fine Arts / Performing Arts / vocational / non written subjects) in CBSE / ISC / State Boards of Class XII and 75% in Graduation.
• 20% scholarship only for MBA programmes - Eligibility - CAT-85 Percentile and above/MAT Score - 700 and above

Laboratories – AUM has provided well equipped laboratories for the students to conduct experiments to get better understanding and application of theory.

Personality Development Programs – Personality Development Programs provides students, skills like problem solving, logical thinking, leadership and communication. Special sessions are also held on effective communication, introduction etiquettes, personal grooming etc. These skills help them in dealing with the challenges of the outside world more efficiently and effectively. It also helps them understand the intricacies involved in the corporate world.

Military Training - A seven day compulsory military training camp is an integral part of the personality development module at Amity. Students get to participate in many activities such as parasailing, trekking, and shooting amongst others which help in testing their mental and physical agility.

Foreign Languages – AUM has integrated foreign language courses into the curriculum, students currently learn French to be followed by German and Spanish. Foreign languages provide students International perspective as they may get jobs or do business in those places where native language is not English. Knowledge of a second language improves the cognitive and creative abilities of the students as well.

Grooming For Interviews - A booklet called 101 Attributes of Amitians is given as a part of induction to all students admitted to AUM. Practicing these values and living by ethics is an integral part of life at Amity. Values like Truthfulness, Honesty, Loyalty, Discipline and Respect are actively inculcated and practiced. The university has trained counsellors who help the students understand and overcome their problems, be it health, emotional or related to academics.

Mentor-Mentee System - Mentor-Mentee program is a unique concept in which each faculty member is assigned a group of 5-6 students to counsel them on their academic and personal concerns. These students remain with the assigned faculty till the time they pass out of the university and by this time they have built a very strong relation with each other. The objective of the Mentor-Mentee program is to recognize the potential of students and help them boost their self- confidence and esteem. The students are free to discuss and share their problems and difficulties which may be both personal and academic. The mentor can, by this way keep a track of the students' progress.

Amizone - Amity is India’s First University to have mobile app for its student’s. Amizone is regularly upgraded with new features and facilities to provide study materials, recorded lectures and a seamless learning experience for its students. Amity students can access Amizone (their intranet) and all its features on their mobile phones. Even parents can view their ward’s attendance and exam grades, while faculty can mark attendance on their mobiles. The Amity App is available for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, BlackBerry, Nokia, Android phones & Windows 8. Students can also access various electronic information resources for online databases, journals, case studies, research materials, etc.

Sports - The sprawling campus has 5 acre sports complex consisting of football ground, volleyball, basketball and badminton courts. Facilities also exist for cricket, soccer, badminton, table tennis, carom and chess.

Cafeteria – The University has a spacious well lit and well ventilated cafeteria in the campus. It is open from 8 AM to 8 PM.

Moot Court – Moot Court provides a virtual environment for the students to get the feel of court proceedings which involves drafting briefs and participating in oral argument. It is an extracurricular activity at Amity Law School with dedicated space for it.

Medical Facilities - Medical facilities are made available 24X7 for the students of AUM. The medical room is located within the Hostel so that the students can easily avail medical care. Trained medical staff is available at all times. For emergencies and major medical problems, there is an ambulance available on campus to reach better medical aid.

Auditorium - It is used for regular interfaces, conferences and cultural events.

Amity Corporate Resource Centre – The Centre acts as an interface between the students, faculty, and the corporate world to initiate continuous interaction with the industry, sharing the industry experiences, understanding industry needs and providing the required support to the corporate world. It provides guidance to students on creating a clear career plan, list of appropriate employers, setting realistic career goals and a planned time table on professional development for future. Amity students also interact with international domain experts and even Nobel Laureates on a regular basis.

Amity Innovation Incubator - Amity Innovation Incubator is a registered 'not for profit' society. It is supported by an advisory body consisting of industrialists, venture capitalists, technical specialists and managers. The incubator helps entrepreneurs realize their dreams through a range of infrastructure, business advisory, mentoring and financial services. Incubator offers a range of incubation services to nourish entrepreneurial talent such as - Business Planning, Company formation, Legal and IPR assistance, Managerial Support, Technology Support
