Hostels – There are five hostel blocks on the campus including 3 boys and 2 girl’s hostels. Hostel Number 1, 4 and 5 are allotted to boys. Hostel Number 2 and 3 are meant for only girls. Hostel No. 1 is allotted to 1st year Undergraduate and Master's degree students and no senior undergraduate will be allotted to the hostel. Hostel No. 3 has 1st year Undergraduate, Master's and Doctoral girl’s students. All the hostels are unaided and maintained by the Institute. The hostels have a good gymnasium and play grounds with sports facilities for in-door and out-door sports activities. All the hostels of the Institute have access to computing, internet, television and laundry facilities.

Hostel Messes - It is mandatory for all hostel students to join the Hostel Mess allotted to them. Each mess is run by the students on co-operative no-loss and no-profit basis under the control of the concerned warden.

Counselling Services - Counselling services are available for the benefit of all the students of the Institute - right from First year to those doing their Doctorate. The Counsellor – Ms. Malini Shah, having in-depth knowledge of Philosophy and Psychology, counsels the students. The counsellor deals with all types of personal and academical related problems. It is mandatory for all the first year students both undergraduate and post graduate including hostellers to meet the Counsellor in groups of ten for an interactive session. Interactive Sessions are held from time to time to make the students aware of their plus points and weak points. Later on, a one – to – one session is held in order to help them develop confidence and overcome difficulties which may be too personal. All the students are free to meet Ms. Malini Shah any time they feel by prior appointment.

Library – The Professor M.M. Sharma Library is a treasure house of books, leading journals, encyclopaedias, reports, thesis, rare volumes etc. which are not found in most of the libraries in the country. The library has a collection of about 76123 numbers of books, 20,000 Microfiches, 4211 Theses and Dissertations and1249 Electronic Resources CD-ROMs. It subscribes to about 106 Foreign Journals and 25 Indian Online Journals (via IP) from Elsevier, Wiley, Springer, RSC, ACS, Taylor and Francis. It subscribes to online databases, namely, scifinder, scopus and reaxys. It is closed only on four public holidays in a year and opens for 12 hours on all working days and for 7 hours on other public holidays.

Scholarships – The University facilitates about 277 scholarships for under graduate students, ranging from Rs. 3000/- to 75000/- per student. A few scholarships are able to take care of all fees, lodging and boarding. This is primarily because of the generosity of the Institute’s huge and accomplished alumni body that includes some of India’s leading industrialists, entrepreneurs and businessmen. Their donations have created several merit- and need-based scholarships that have helped fulfil the dreams of many students. A few alumni are also mentoring some students, not only with monitory support but also continuous monitoring.

Additionally, the high impact and original research being conducted in the institutes’ laboratories have attracted the interest of many industries, funding bodies and government agencies and research groups have been duly awarded with sizable funds for attracting talented young researchers and graduate students and purchasing state-of-the-art equipment. This has helped the Institute offer full merit- and need-based scholarships even at the post-graduate level and has greatly aided in keeping education costs at low levels. Almost 52% students admitted to the ICT are on freeships in tuition fees as per government norms.

Some of the scholarships are:

  • Kamani Oils Merit-Cum Means Scholarship (two) - Value of Rs. 25,000/- each.  It is meant for students from Final Year B. Tech. (Oils) and Final Year B. Tech. (Foods)
  • Sarojben and Pratapray Shah Memorial Scholarship (six) - Value of Rs.75,000/- p.a. each.
  • Shri Sharad C. Patel Merit cum Means Scholarship (one) - Value of Rs. 50,000/-. Only for undergraduate students of chemical engineering

Computer access to students is by NIS authentication and NFS Homeserver. IPC also has two laptops and one LCD projector which are available for the entire institute for guest/visiting lectures, seminars, workshops.

IPC provides internet and intranet connectivity to entire ICT through fiber optic backbone with copper to the desktop. It houses dedicated servers for catering the different requirements of the institute viz. Siddhi server for intranet connectivity; email server for providing email access to research and teaching staff of the institute; proxy server for internet connectivity and vighnahar server for windows based applications like Aspentech, Mathcad, Centralized Antivirus tools etc.

UAA - The UDCT Alumni Association (UAA), founded in 1989, with membership of over 5000, not only has past students as members but also several others who are well wishers of the institute without being formal graduates. Every year during the month of December, there are class reunions of decades, two decades, some observing silver jubilee and golden jubilee as well. All current students can enrol into the membership to carry on the legacy. The UAA has been a constant source of help and inspiration. It has been providing financial assistance for training, placement, factory visits, scholarships, prizes, field trips, sports, intercollegiate festivals and social service.
