Operations Manager Eligibility

To become an Operations Manager one should have a Masters Degree in Operations Management i.e. MBA (Operations). The courses specifically meant for Operational management are:

  1. Master of Business Administration (Operations)
  2. Post Graduate Diploma in Operational Management.

Eligibility condition for Joining Master Degree/Diploma

The eligibility criteria for applying to these courses are graduation in any discipline.

The master’s programme will be of 2 years duration and PG Diploma programmes will be of 1-year duration.

Basically, admission to these programmes will be based on the aptitude test, GD and interview. The selection procedure may vary depending on the institutes.

Most institutes admit students on the basis of marks scored in exams like CAT by IIMs, MAT by All India Management Association, XAT by Xavier Institute etc. Some institutes conduct their own exam to admit students to these courses in their institutes.

Many Management courses offer Operations as a specialization to the major course. In MBA, the specialization will be offered in the 2nd year.

  • Operations Manager must be able to work with employees at all levels in the firm from assembly workers to top executives; able to have a variety of dialogue and understanding of the whole business.
  • They also should be interested in the flow of work, the relationships between inputs and outputs, and be able to solve problems and be analytical.
  • They should also possess skills of adjusting actions in relation to others' actions; using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Operations Manager should understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making; monitoring/Assessing performance of you, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
