1. Although no special specific qualification is required for one to be a Sales Manager. Still to be able to do his work efficiently and confidently and to reach at higher positions in the hierarchy one should at least be a graduate and preferably an MBA (with Sales as mainstream).

Step 1
Interested candidates have to join one or both of the above-given courses through some college of repute like IIM's etc. For that, they may have to compete in an entrance exam taken by the institutes like CAT, MAT etc.
However, some institute provides admission on first come first basis or merit basis of the qualifying exam.
Step 2
After acquiring the requisite qualification the aspirants can apply for the post of Assistant Sales Manager in some national or multinational company’s retail outlets to gain some on the job experience.
Sales Manager job involves making and implementing the policies to maximise the sales of the products and services his organisation is providing. He is also responsible to interact with the customers and make them aware of the products and service and pursue them to take the favourable decisions.
With the widening of the network of various multinational companies’ retail outlets throughout the world, there is the many-fold increase in the demand of Sales Managers. Thus there is great scope for the Sales Managers in the immediate future in Company Showroom, Biz Bazzars, and other outlets in Malls etc.
As far as salary and other remunerations are concerned the Sales Manager can get anything between Rs.12000 to Rs.15,000 as a starter, it largely depends upon the organization one is joining. After gaining some on job experience one can expect as good as Rs.25,000 to Rs.30,000 in the multinational organization and even get more than that depending upon individuals experience and abilities.
