M.D. Family Medicine or Doctor of Medicine in Family Medicine is a postgraduate course. Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. It is a division of primary care that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family across all ages, genders, diseases, and parts of the body. It is specially designed for family physicians to impart comprehensive healthcare for all age groups. It is a two-year residency programme approved by the Medical Council of India. Family doctors can form a diagnosis, counsel patients on chronic conditions and medical treatment options, order tests, prescribe medication and suggest treatment options and refer patients to a specialist.
