The huge amount of information that a person acquires from education and from life that may or may not have practical use in routine life may be called as General Knowledge also known as GK  to the masses. This awareness cannot be limited to a particular sphere of life. It is the knowledge which one has in addition to the awareness of the field of one’s profession or interest but surely it has a definite bearing on everybody’s personality. The area of scope for G.K is boundless. It may engulf knowledge of current affairs happening around us in daily routine, knowledge of historic events, inventions, discoveries and the persons associated with these events or happenings, knowledge of places, personalities and their contribution to the society as a whole. This may also include awareness of commonly used phrases, abbreviations and terminology etc. associated with the world’s widely used languages like English, French etc.
