Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana - Ambala, erstwhile known as Maharishi Markandeshwar Education Trust was founded with the objective of social, educational and economic upliftment of society in the year 1993, in the name of Lord Shiva’s devotee, “Maharishi Markandeshwar Ji”. MM University Trust, Mullana - Ambala has become a symbol of quality education in technical, professional and medical streams in northern India and has been carrying on its lineage for over 15 years.

In exercise of powers conferred under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, the Central Government, on the advice of the University Grants Commission, has declared Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana – Ambala comprising ten of its teaching institutions, as “Deemed University” vide Notification No. F.9-65/2006-U.3 (A) dated 12-6-2007.

MM University has developed Academic Bodies, to set up high standards, design innovations and interdisciplinary courses in emerging areas and improve the curriculum of the existing courses keeping in view the latest trends and market needs. The MM University has, thus, taken up a big challenge to bring about a change in the educational, cultural and social environment of the society and strives hard towards furtherance of its goal.

The constituent institutions of the University are also recognized by the affiliating bodies like Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India, Indian Nursing Council, Indian Association of Physiotherapists, All India Council for Technical Education etc.

Facilities

Hostels - Nine hostels three of which are centrally air conditioned with accommodation for about 3000 students. Wholesome, well balanced, nutritious and home like meals also help students to feel at home in the hostels.

Library - All the MM Institutes have their own computerized libraries, well stocked with specialized books, daily newspapers, popular magazines and national and international journals. Medical, Dental and Engineering Colleges have air-conditioned libraries. All the libraries have internet connections for accessing e-journals and other websites on the internet. All libraries have a well-developed and a well-managed reference section housing encyclopedias, handbooks, manuals, dictionaries, etc. It has a computer searchable database of 240 International Journals bought over a period of 3 years. The database contains about 30 lakh bibliographic records of books, 44560 serials and 181504 theses, accessible through INFLIBNET (Information Library Network). Full text of 239 e-journals is also accessible to the faculty. In this citadel of learning, Inter-library Loan facility for books and photocopies of research-papers, too, can also be availed of through DELNET.

Internet - Wi-Fi Campus with back bone of optic fibre line in offices and residences for faculty and also for use by administration. The whole campus has networking with optic fibre line and 12 Mbps connectivity. Students have free access to internet in the campus 24 hrs a day.

Sports- Sports and cultural programmes are integral part of the students’ activities. The students of all the Institutes are motivated to regularly participate in these activities. The facilities available on the campus include Cricket, Hockey, Football, Basketball, Volley Ball, Tennis, Badminton; etc. apart from indoor games.

Residential sector - Residential sector, with about 500 faculty and administrative staff with families staying in the University campus.

Corporate Interface and Placements - The MM University strives hard for preparing world-class professionals who can become the pride of any employer. Students passing out from here are capable of getting prestigious jobs within and outside India. Visit of representatives of several companies to hold campus interviews for recruitment of competent professionals at our institution is a regular activity during the academic session. A good number of students are placed for high-class employment through campus interviews even before they leave the campus. Many graduates in B.Tech. MBA, MCA and Hotel Management have bagged enviable packages in reputed establishments.

Personality Development Cell - Apart from imparting instruction to the students, University also pays special attention to inculcate human values and grooming its students for a bright career. MMU continuously strives to develop students realize their latent potential while acquiring professional knowledge. A counselling cell with highly qualified and established experts has been created by the University to conduct courses on Personality Development and Communication Skills for the students and to provide them career guidance not only to add to their personality but also to prepare them for panel discussion, Group discussion and interviews by various Placement Agencies besides extending counseling on their personal problems. A number of Psychological and State of the Art language Labs have been established specifically for this purpose. Career Counseling for the students on the campus is a regular and on going process to enhance the employability of MM University scholars.

Transport - Transport facilities with a fleet of 65 Deluxe / A.C. buses for staff and students commuting from the nearby areas of Ambala, Chandigarh, Jagadhri, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Patiala etc.

Health Care - 750-bed MM Medical College Hospital providing Medical facilities like CT-SCAN, MRI, Ultra Sound, X-Ray, Ultra Modern Operation Theatres, Blood Bank, Pathological Tests are available at the MM Medical College Hospital. Dental OPD Service in different specialties of dentistry is also available. The Healthcare facility is available free to all the students of the campus.

Shopping center - Shopping center in the campus has an SBI Branch with ATM facilities besides Post office with Speed-Post service, STD booths and shops to provide basic amenities.

Auditoriums - Two Auditoriums with seating capacity of about 1000 and 1500 persons respectively. In addition, an open air theater is also available with a capacity of about 2500 person.

Alumni Association - Alumni Association has been formed for continuous professional interaction between the students to continue even after completion of their degree programme. The membership entitles the students to participate in seminars, workshops, conferences and other activities organized by MM University. An active alumnus helps in various activities, especially in corporate interface and brand building of the institution. MM University maintains an active database of the Alumni; and organizes regular meetings, events, which provide linkage between the participants and the industry.
