About Maharishi Markandeshwar University - Sadopur-Ambala Campus

Maharishi Markandeshwar University (MMU), Sadopur, Ambala is a Deemed University established under Haryana Govt. Act No. 29 of 2010 and approved by the UGC vide letter No. F.8-8/2011 (CPP-1/PU) dated 8 July 2011. The University is recognized by the UGC for awarding Degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956. Maharishi Markandeshwar University at Sadopur-Ambala was initially started as MM Group of Institutions in 2010 with the courses in the area of Engineering & Technology, Business Management and Computer Technology. MMU Sadopur, Ambala is managed by the MM University Trust (erstwhile reputed MM Education Trust, Ambala). As a part of its expansion Programme over 44 Acres of land has been allotted for the Campus at Sadopur on Delhi-Ambala-Chandigarh National Highway in the suburbs of Ambala. MMU Sadopur has been established to provide professional education to the people of the surrounding region. The name of the University has been derived from ‘Maharishi Markandya’, the great-grandson of Bhrigu Rishi and the son of Rishi Markandu, the eternal torchbearer of communal harmony and religious tolerance, who by his power of pious devotion and deep faith in Lord Shiva, acquired the boon of eternal life by defeating the invincible Yamraja

Hostel Facility - Separate hostel facilities are provided for boys and girls within the campus. The rooms have attached washroom and have basic facilities like bed, table, chair and almirah.

Library - The Libraries of the Campus are Air Conditioned and Computerized. The Library has a large number of printed volumes including books, textbooks, standards, journals, thesis & dissertations. The University has membership of DELNET that offers access to more than 11.11 million bibliographic records, 33916 union list of current periodicals, 20235 records of union catalogues of periodicals, 912042 records of periodical articles and 48621 records of thesis and dissertations held by 2134 libraries in India and 22 overseas libraries.

Wifi Campus - The entire campus is covered with Wi-Fi to ensure that students and faculty can access the Internet 24x7.

Computer Centre - It caters to the computing needs of the faculty, staff and students for their learning, research and teaching. It has I-3 and Core 2 Duo Computers and has various other facilities inclusive of reprographics and printing.

Fellowships - A limited number of Fellowships of 12,000/- P.M with contingency up to 6,000/- per annum are available and some of the selected candidates may also be considered for the award of Fellowship on their merit and research aptitude. The continuation of the Fellowship and utilization of the amount of Contingency will be made as per guidelines framed by the University from time to time and subject to satisfactory progress report.

Admission For NRI/Foreign Candidates

Subject to availability of candidates, 10% seats may be offered to NRI/ Foreign candidates.

NRI/Foreign candidates may be given admission if they fulfil other eligibility conditions and seats for them are available in the Institute/Department concerned. Before an NRI/Foreign candidate is allowed to undertake the Ph. D programme, he/she will have to appear before the DRC which will adjudge his/her research aptitude and area of interest for research.

A Foreign/NRI candidate seeking admission to PhD program will submit a brief outline of the proposed area of research along with the application form for admission to PhD program and also two references of the rank of Professors of some University to the Head of the Institute/Department concerned for consideration by the DRC.

All the recommendations of the DRC with regard to admission of the candidates of PhD program in the Institutes/Departments may be placed before another Committee headed by the Vice-Chancellor which may include following members for taking final decision/approval regarding allowing admission to the concerned Foreign/NRI student:-

(i) Dean of Faculty concerned.

(ii) Head of Department/Institute.

(iii) Supervisor concerned (Proposed)

(iv) Registrar – Member Secretary

Except which have specifically been provided for the NRI/Foreign research students, other provisions with regard to the approval of synopsis/topic, submission of progress report, evaluation of thesis, etc. will be the same as in the case of other research students.

Sports - MMU offers an extensive range of indoor and outdoor sports facilities. University organizes Sports and Athletic Meet every year to encourage students for attaining excellence in sports.

Conference Hall and Auditorium - Fully air-conditioned Conference Rooms, Auditorium and Seminar halls are available at the campus. Each department is provided with a seminar hall with latest multimedia technologies for conducting Workshops, Expert Sessions, Recruitment programmes and Personality development seminars.

Training and Placement Cell - The University Campus has a full fledged Training and Placement Cell known as the Central Placement Cell (CPC) wherein the Campus Recruitment Programme is organized as a central activity for MMU students from across all other campuses of the M.M Trust. The Training and Placement Division is equipped with all modern amenities like separate air conditioned GD rooms, Interview cabins, Auditorium with Wi-Fi facility for conducting Mass Recruitment Drives of various national and multi-national organizations. The Division has computerized details of all students for information processing and sharing the academic details with concerned organizations for Training and Placement activities. The Division also focuses on preparing young intellectual talent by providing inputs on Group Discussion, preparing Bio-Data, facing Interview and effective communication skills both written and verbal.
